I would be happy if it breaks 3M honestly. I think it will be the highest rated episode of the season(which at this point is 2.68M), not sure it will crack that 3M mark though

Idk i have a feeling its gonna get high ratings. Its a big event thats sure to pull out old Smallville fans and JSA fans in general. And its a movie so a lot of your regular Friday night movie goers may have movie night at the the house instead of the theatre. I know I will haha

well yea it would be great if it can get 4million+ which would be great for cw on a friday. But i think realistically it will probably be 3.0-3.5million range.

I'd predict 3.5 million tops for the AJ movie. The JSA doesnt have much draw with a general audience.

I think between 3-4 million, many people that don't watch SV or stop watching, will take a look out of curiosity.

I reckon the Absolute Justice 'movie' will get season high ratings... but in saying that I think it will be lucky to break 2.9/3m.

They should release more pictures, release more info to Ausiello without compromising the main plot to try & get abit more publicity for it closer to the airing date.

yea i do really hope we can break/get over the 3million mark and i am sure we could with the overall rating for both hrs and all that. I hope we kick the other networks butts for the evening, and it would be great if we could get like 3rd place over abc. No way we will beat cbs/nbc for 1st/2nd place. They got good holding numbers.

As for promos/promotion i am sure there is going to be a few more trailers, some more photos released, and maybe some more web/mag articles on it.

Smallville 'likely' to get a 10th season according to Kristin Dos Santos

Ryan in North Miami, Fla.: OK, Kristin, let's try this one more time please. I would really like to know if Smallville is being renewed for a 10th season or even if the CW is considering it. I would be forever and eternally grateful if you would at least try and find out. I would even tell my sister to name her next kid after you.
Here's hoping it's a girl! I have it on good authority the CW most definitely wants a 10th season. Smallville is kicking gluteus maximus in the ratings.

Are you really going to trust somebody who says that "Smallville is kicking gluteus maximus in the ratings"?
Does that invalidate her statement? Don't disregard who the person is just because she uses a lexicon her readers enjoy. Kristin said, "I have it on good authority the CW most definitely wants a 10th season." Right now, I'll take her word over yours. No offense.

Again, it has the 2nd lowest viewership on CW and the lowest viewership amongst Friday's first run network shows.
What? Um, no, it doesn't. Unless you've chosen to pick a week when the SV episode aired was a rerun (see below), SV is nowhere near 2nd lowest.

People can run around and talk about multipliers, Twilight taking away from it, it doing well in the 14-16 teens with silver braces category and other such excuses all they want but the show isn't fairing well against its competition. Not to mention it is on a network who now wants to cater to the female audience.
Catering to the young female demographic doesn't change the fact that SV is doing very well for CW in other demos on a FRIDAY night.

Niche success gives networks boost
Series that play to narrower demos show value
By JON WEISMAN

Excerpt:

"There's tremendous value (in niche demos)," says CW program planning and scheduling veep Kevin Levy. "Our primary target that we're looking at is women 18-34. ... It's great to be able to point to multiple shows across our network and show we've got some wins in different time periods in those demos."

In addition, "Smallville," despite drawing less than 3 million viewers, is No. 1 on Fridays at 8 p.m. with men 18-34 and men 18-49. The caveat is how few people watch TV at that hour to begin with, but it still offers opportunity for those who want to hit that demo that night.

"That's a ninth-year show that changed nights," Levy says, "and clearly the young men that make up the core of that show's audience are still responding to that show."

The greatest drop off was Ugly Betty at 46+%, Smallville is 2nd. Which means 2ND WORST.

Selective quoting? What about the subsequent paragraph:

"But-but-but 'Smallville' moved to Fridays!" you say.

Of course it did. Fridays proved a rough transition for several shows like "Ugly Betty" (-46.2%).

SV and UB had the largest drop offs because both shows were moved to Friday nights!

1) Lowest Viewership Among Friday Shows Excluding Reruns.
2) Smallville Loses To Reruns of House Every Week
3) Lowest Viewership On The Network With The Exception of Melrose Place.
1) Do you really expect ANY show on the CW to have a larger viewership than shows on ABC, CBS, NBC or Fox? Really? REALLY? Nice try though. :)
2) And?
3) Comparing a repeat episode of SV's overall viewership to other CW shows airing that week makes sense how? Oh wait, it doesn't.

Vampire Diaries & Smallville continue big gains with DVR viewings

Friday’s SMALLVILLE remains in heavy DVR demand, as its Live+7 ratings rose above its live viewing by 82% in adults 18-34 (1.69rtg v. 0.93rtg) and 80% in adults 18-49 (1.62rtg v. 0.9rtg).

Several The CW shows added about a million more viewers once all DVR playback was factored in, with VAMPIRE DIARIES adding nearly 1.6million more viewers (4.89mil v. 3.32mil), SMALLVILLE gained nearly 1.3 million additional viewers (3.47mil v. 2.2mil) and TOP MODEL improved by an even 1 million viewers from DVR playback (3.66mil v. 2.66mil).

TVByTheNumbers - "Melrose Place: I'm picking on you, yea you"

2. Melrose Place is the only scripted show currently on the CW likely to be canceled at the end of this season

Are you surprised?

I just went and read the pertinent posts. Glad to see the resident "inside experts" are still blowing as hard as they always have. :whatever:

Silly Pat. Stop making sense and trying to confuse the situation with facts. You're just one of those silly SV fans who needs to keep your opinions away from the REAL Superman fans.

Love the idea of a 10th season and frankly, TPTB need to just make it the SUPERMAN season :D

Great to hear about Smallville. And I can honestly say that now we are starting to see him move to being Superman. Though not sure how he is going to get that name. But if the rumors are true and he gets a new suit during AJ, then I will be happy.

yea he is pretty much superman and really would probably be a more full on superman season and can be designed that if they clearly define it to be last season and all that.

While you are right on basically everything, why not post this on the Superman boards?

EDIT: Oh ok, nevermind....

thanks for the chart, yea the ratings have changed alot over the years. But as pointed out before it been on multi nights and each night is different with ratings. plus 9-8yrs ago there was less tv and all that.

Wasn't the pilot episode shown on a Sunday night in march of 2001 before the season started that fall?

Two things you should keep in mind right about now:

"Unlimited power is apt to corrupt the minds of those who possess it" - William Pitt

No need to do this :wall:
Just look away from the screen long enough to realize that the bigger bowl is the real world filled with a lot more room for a lot more people (who will also be happy to share it with you).
We don't run this small bowl, we're subject to the whims of others. That's the deal - no need to stress out about it.

hopefully we will know were the show stands soon. Though like past few yrs we didnt get the official call released to us fans to about feb. So that is likely when we will know. Though i am sure the cast/crew will know soon or already do.

You're quoting a post form the "brain trust" over there who's been all out lying for 3+ years now and stirring up false hope about the prospects of a sequel to that joke of a Superman film that was released in 2006. Why would they suddenly have any credibility when talking about the show or Network ratings?

Let them selectively quote and fudge statistics all they want. Smallville should be getting the cancellation notice right around the time the new trailer for Singerman II comes out....

God I hope not, I don't want to see Tom as a 70 year old Superman!:woot:
