Justice League Ray Fisher - WB Investigation Updates Thread

It kind of goes both ways. It's not like his supporters' comments have been bringing anything new to the table for quite some time now. And unless we hear actual news and progress at some point, the conversations will probably keep going in circles. Until this thread is renamed to "I love Ray Fisher" or anything in similar fashion, my advice for you would be to be a little more tolerant of opinions and arguments you don't agree with, even if they are getting a bit repetitive due to lack of proper developments.

Plenty tolerant. Thanks though.

I'm mostly just amused at Grace assuring everyone Ray had already won and vanquished both Johns and Whedon for all time and effectively ended their careers, and then this happens. Some of these scoopers really do just be pulling stuff out of the anus.

Well, its Grace...when is she not pulling stuff out of her ass?...people who believe anything she says in the first place, shouldnt be surprised if what she says, turns out to be nonsense.

Anyway...people seem to think this is a fast process either way...but this could take many years and even then we might not get the full story.
In that i cant really blame Fisher for having toned down his social media activity on this.
This will go on in the background and will take a long time before some kind of results exist.

Eh, many people besides Ray had issues with the way they were treated during JL reshoots, so it's not just about one person (Ray).

He is just the face of the movement.

I've always been taught that if you have an issue with someone you face them yourself. Hiding behind someone else never ends well. Depending on others to solve your issues never ends well.

You say "many" people as if we've received confirmation of this. How many is many?

Jason Momoa and Karen Bryson have both publicly backed Ray Fisher on this. I think some extras did as well.
Wanting to be anonymous in order to protect your job is completely understandable.

Karen Bryson wasn't even involved on the reshoots but good for her for showing support...by using a photo from the Snyder Cut to show her support.

Many people who participated in reshoots are with Ray, we will know more soon.

Regarding Whedon... has anyone who worked on him on another project (Avengers, Buffy, Firefly) alleged that he's a tyrant on set or engaged in abusive behavior? I'm not saying that he wasn't a total d*** on set of JL but I always got the impression that his casts loved working with him.

His firefly cast love him as do members of The Avengers and JL .

Henry Cavill and Joss Whedon has same vision for Superman

Black Widow Movie: Scarlett Johansson Credits 1 Director for "Believing"

Henry Cavill Sounds Happier Now as Superman as He Saw Eye-to-Eye With Joss Whedon on JUSTICE LEAGUE This undercuts ray fisher.

'The Nevers': Joss Whedon's New Show is "Complicated and Fresh," According to Star Nick Frost His new cast love him too.

Its been almost 20 years and I still can't accept the cancellation of Firefly. I understand the frustration Snyder fans have had to deal with during the JL debacle as we went through that pain with Firefly. The brown coat movement which eventually gave us Serenity was kind of the precursor for the Snyder Cut movement.

I agree.

Yeah it had to be only a rough cut of the film but those are just semantics. It's not lying.

Man, I know that this is a public feud with big names and big studio. I wish someway, somehow things work out in the end and Ray could still working in the industry. As Cyborg or whatnot.
Dude just have the star potential. He got the look (and superhero stature to boot), enthusiastic, IMO enough screen presence and talent (didn't he caught Ang Lee's attention at some point?). Don't want to see him wasted. But I do aware he's not the only one with that kind of quality, Hollywood is very hard and full with up-and-coming talents.

Momoa backed him, what a gesture, considering his position and relation with WB.

Interview: Ray Fisher Talks Toxic Justice League Set, WarnerMedia Investigation, And Erasing Characters Of Color

“The erasure of people of color from the 2017 theatrical version of Justice League was neither an accident nor coincidence,” Ray Fisher calmly, but sternly stated.

Justice League star Ray Fisher has never been shy about speaking his truth. Focused and measured, Fisher spoke with Forbes about his continued dispute with Warner Bros. Fisher passionately spoke on the toxic and harmful work environment that he and the cast endured during the film’s Joss Whedon-led reshoots, after he took over from original director, Zack Snyder. Fisher went into detail on the myriad issues on set.

Fisher’s campaign started on June 29. Fisher put Hollywood on notice when he shared a clip of himself from Hall H at 2017’s San Diego Comic-Con. During the Justice League panel that year, fans were blissfully unaware of the lies the cast were forced to say, according to Fisher. “I’d like to take a moment and forcefully retract every bit of this statement,” Fisher said on Twitter.

Fisher went into detail on why he felt the need to retract the statement, citing how fabricated talking points were distributed to the cast of heaping praise on Whedon as Snyder’s replacement.

“For one thing, the cast and crew were told that Zack had handpicked Joss to finish the film for him. I didn’t find out until after the reshoots that that was a complete lie.” Fisher began. “I heard whispers and rumblings of things being off behind the scenes, but nothing concrete until much later. They had us go out to San Diego Comic-Con in 2017 and say Zack picked Joss and that Joss was a great guy. I still have the email with those talking points..”

Two days later, Fisher took to Twitter to point fingers and provide the names of the those he held responsible.

“Joss Whedon’s on-set treatment of the cast and crew of Justice League was gross, abusive, unprofessional and completely unacceptable. He was enabled, in many ways, by Geoff Johns and Jon Berg. Accountability>Entertainment,” Fisher tweeted on July 1st

Fisher explained to Forbes the exact moment he decided he needed to take a public stand.

“What set my soul on fire and forced me to speak out about Joss Whedon this summer was my becoming informed that Joss had ordered that the complexion of an actor of color be changed in post-production because he didn’t like the color of their skin tone,” Fisher firmly stated. “Man, with everything 2020’s been, that was the tipping point for me.” Whedon did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

After Zack Snyder left Justice League’s production in early 2017 following a family tragedy, Warner Bros. Pictures brought in Joss Whedon to conduct reshoots that heavily altered the original film. The cast of the film was taken aback by the things that happened in Snyder’s absence. Yet, the cast was not aware of how bad things were about to get.

“You’ve got to understand, Zack stepped away to be with his family, and we wanted to give him space to do that,” Fisher said. “He and I didn’t speak for about a year after he left.”

Fisher went on to explain how the abusive and unprofessional atmosphere was cultivated behind closed doors even before Snyder departed the project.

“Prior to Justice League’s reshoot process, blatantly racist conversations were had and entertained—on multiple occasions—by former and current top level executives at Warner Bros. Pictures,” Fisher stated. “Decision-makers that participated in those racist conversations were Geoff Johns, Jon Berg, and current Warner Bros. Pictures Group chairman Toby Emmerich.” Emmerich, Berg, and Johns did not immediately respond for comment.

“I realized that the notes I ended up getting from Johns during reshoots were just a coded version of the racist things he was saying with behind closed doors with the other execs,” Fisher alleged.
