Justice League Ray Fisher - WB Investigation Updates Thread

Fisher may have gotten caught up in the moment. I don't know anything about the guy but i doubt he is an idiot. hearsay is very easy to dismiss no decent lawyer would have told him it was okay to say that part in public.

what this does proves that people in both camps shouldn't be so knee jerked and react.

WB is mostly likely guilty of somethings fisher has said. and i would like to see them punished.

still i dont want to see anyone get cancelled or fired. maybe cut their pay or tell them they cant work for a while. we are not here to destroy peoples lives

My suspicion has aways been that this is more of an ethical issue rather than an illegal or criminal one. I think this really is about Fisher witnessing and hearing about very morally questionable behavior and abuse of power that, again, while technically may not be criminal, still unacceptable nonetheless. The same kind of behavior that Hollywood has let fly for decades. Thats just what my gut tells me.

Same here as well. Mostly everyone here can admit that they know Whedon is a jerk so is it REALLY that hard to believe that he isn't arrogant enough to have this convo in front of a black person? There are worse stories from other actors about things people in Hollywood do. People are just dismissing Fisher way to fast.

It's less that I don't think he'd do it and more that I doubt he'd be making moves about this if he was sure Ray had him dead to rights about it.

Like I said, it's telling he's been quiet about everything else (which tells me the stories about him being an @$$hole on set and yelling at/bullying the cast and crew are mostly true), but this is where he finally got an attorney involved and publicly stated Ray's allegation was untrue. Bad behavior on set is something that'd be hard to defend against since he has a history of it and likely did act out during this shoot, but Ray's specific allegation that he demanded the whitening of black actors' skin tones is something that is far more dubious and more difficult to prove if it wasn't in writing.

More difficult to prove and the boldest and most specific claim he's made so far. I can only assume and hope he was advised before saying that.

Or it could mean that everything before the Forbes article had just been generic accusations and calling names and Whedon replied to the only thing where Fisher gave specifics to his claims against him.

Homeboy really got canned from Forbes' contributor network over this, looks like.
Lol....they published it at the end of the day so obviously they couldn't cope with the heat.

It's a garbage site.

Haven’t been keeping up with this lately...so next week Ray comes back with direct evidence of coloring controversy, to keep the roller coaster ride going? =P

More like a trainwreck. :O
Hard to see but sometimes you couldn't take your eyes off of it.
To be honest, I got a bit nervous everytime there's some update because either way, it's not good for DC (at least its public image).

Wasn’t there a highly anticipated Cyborg movie in the works? I haven’t been following this or the history of JL production problems too closely

It’s been cancelled, which many people believe is the reason for Fisher’s behavior.

Seems like The Forbes writer has been relieved of his duties after the article. Looks like an editor came and cleaned up the article and lists the author as a former contributor to the site....

That seems so unnecessary. Farooqi was just reporting Fisher’s claims, it was in no way an opinion piece. Whedon’s lawyers must’ve scared the pants off of tbe Forbes editors.

This thing is gettin ugly fast guys...

Farooqi didn’t write a piece that was impartial, he’s also made a huge blunder using quotes that have since been disproved.

Tbh after this and that bull**** Superman article he wrote I say good riddance.

The article itself was rather unprofessionally written, though. Lots of thinly veiled opinion and editorializing on his part rather than trying for objectivity. Which is consistent with what else I've seen of his writing (his Superman article in particular, where he just straight up omitted facts that didn't fit his central claim that audiences absolutely loved Zack Snyder's take on Superman and want more dark Superman stories in that vein).

The death knell, however, was almost certainly printing that whitewashing quote without actually fact checking it. He did claim that he contacted Whedon for a response and was ignored, but given Whedon did end up responding (and how!) I'm somewhat skeptical Farooqi was as thorough as he should have been. That's the sort of thing where the publication was likely worried about potential of a lawsuit. Which begs the question of how that actually got past editorial to begin with.

He’s lucky that he was only fired. Accusing people of racism without proof opens you up to a major lawsuit.

As does copyright infractions, which Scott Mendelson blatantly did during Fandome, but didn't get fired for. Bit of a double standard here from Forbes.

I doubt WB/DC would pursue legal action against people covering and sharing content from an event that was literally designed to build awareness of their upcoming TV shows, movies and games.

Being accused of being a racist without any evidence to back it up? Yeah. That's the type of thing someone would be likely to sue over.

No different than what the actual media does today.

Was that when he talked about the Snyder Cut trailer?

He didn’t post it. He watched it. Just like thousands of other people. Vaguely unprofessional, but not in the same ballpark.
