Justice League Ray Fisher - WB Investigation Updates Thread

Depp was a liability and a whole bunch of his dirty laundry was spilled out during the ill-advised lawsuit. I'm no fan of Heard either but the narrative that he was a saint unjustly punished despite doing nothing wrong isn't actually backed up by evidence. He has a history of behavior that the studios tolerated back when he was a huge box office draw (drinking and substance abuse issues, showing up to set late, temper tantrums), and then when his movies stopped making money they stopped seeing a reason to excuse it.

It can be argued the fact that his crappy behavior was ignored as long as he was making the execs richer is itself an example of what's wrong with Hollywood, but it is what it is.

The fall of Depp is kind of sad to me. I watch his videos on YouTube where he's in hospitals as Captain Jack bringing joy to terminally ill children and it brings me to tears. I think deep down he's a good guy, poisoned by drugs. If you observe closely, his dependence on alcohol and cocaine raised with his bad relationship with Amber Heard. Drugs are a son of a *****.

With regard to this thread, Ray Fisher definitely saw and was subject to some effed up things, as was the rest of the cast in the reshooting of JL. I wish or hope that if we could go back in time, Ray brings up his grievances and Walter Hamada says ok let's deal with this (but the multimillion-dollar machine cannot admit fault).

I just hope that we, as people, can get to a point of forgiveness. Have a conversation. "Hey man, I was subject to some foul play on set", "Ok, well we hear you and need to have a conversation about why that was wrong. We need to change, improve and move forward."

If something bad happens to you and you don't want to have a conversation or you want everyone involved to be fired, careers ruined, something is wrong. We need to correct bad behaviour and forgive, move forward and start fresh. That's the only way we progress as a society.

Half expecting to see an announcement along the lines of:
"Ray Fisher to star in Zack Snyder directed Netflix series: Cyborguy"

There was an old Reddit post speculating this is gonna be the opening of The Flash.

That answers my questions.....he wants everyone fired and never work again. Very curious what happened if you want people to lose their jobs and never work again. Has to be worst than all the horror stories from sets we have heard (bale, cruise, kubrick, cameron, etc)

Really wonder if anyone he's accusing will ever publicly stand up for themselves.

TheWrap and Umberto do come off as WB lapdogs

sooner or later we're gonna find out what exactly happened, for Ray to see this through the way he has, I have to imagine something really bad went down.

It's also super possible it's just generic aggressive, unpleasant director/producer ****. Which absolutely should stop and is wildly over normalized, but isn't exactly going to be mindblowing to hear.

Curious if there were also problems on the set of The Nevers, and if now how that shows team feels about the way it effected their work.

I would be very surprised if Ray is taking it this far over something like that, especially after Whedon is pretty much persona non grata over at WB. It would be over if Joss was the only real problem. Something much worse had to have happened if he's also gunning after Hamada and Johns. If it was simply crappy behavior, I'd imagine someone like Affleck or

I know Hamada made Whedon the fall guy to try and cover for whatever Johns did, but one of these days that incident is gonna come out in the open, especially if something is going to come of it.

You're not gonna see Geoff Johns just get cut loose from all his upcoming projects/producer gigs without any trades reporting on the specifics. All of his current and future projects are in the DC/WB pot.

Fisher is an industry newbie and, I'm not saying this to invalidate his claims because even the middle-ground truth that I suspect there is paints an unflattering picture of the people he's trying to **** over, clearly a passionate and sensitive person. I'm not going to be amazed if something really crazy happened - Johns making veiled threats about Ray's career is already getting there - but nothing about Fisher gives me the impression he wouldn't be taking it this far over verbal abuse and on-set tantrums. Especially because there's clearly an element of personal spite to this, I'm sure he also cares about making workplaces in the industry safer and less abusive but I don't know how you could look at this and also not see an element of strike-back.

Which, whatever, if I had the power to **** over the careers of some garbage bosses I've had via twitter I probably would too.

Umberto looking like such a chump right now lol.

Not a new look for him. :D He's a fair-weather fan. He loved BvS after screening it then didn't when it became unpopular.

I'm also confused at Rays' tweets saying he hasn't given up the role in asking for that retraction. He said he'd never work for Hamada (I believe, correct me if that's wrong) and Hamada has been extended so what is happening here. Hopefully, it means they can still come to some sort of agreement, keeping open the door for HBO Max continuation of ZSJL...I know it's prolly not gonna happy but I can dream right?

Look, I want to believe Ray, but he's been vague about ALL of this since last summer. If he wants people to be on his side, then he needs to elaborate more. If something nasty really DID happen during production like he's hinting, Ray needs to TELL US! Throwing blame at people like Hamada and Geoff Johns without any sort of concrete proof or saying what EXACTLY they did wrong other than vague accusations isn't going to help! Otherwise, he's just coming off as pissy that Cyborg's solo movie got canned during retooling the film slate and that this mess is just a publicity stunt for a freaking director's cut!

To be totally fair, the last time Ray tried to get specific it had to be pulled because it couldn't be backed up and was clearly questionable. There's a limit on what he can legally talk about and the last time he did get specific it backfired on him - I'm not uncritical of his use of social media in all this but I also kinda get his vagueness right now.

I mean he can't pour it all on social media, that has major legal implications that I don't think he's equipped to combat by himself. There's a process. But it'll all come out at some point.

Yeah, unless someone got raped on set and it was covered up, then I have a feeling that this might be Fisher getting upset over comparatively petty ****. Again, his claims against Geoff Johns are surprising to me as it's the first and ONLY time I've heard him be accused of any wrongdoing. No one else at DC has accused him of any kind of bad behavior or mean comments directed at people like that before or since this claim came out. It makes me wonder if the ONLY reason that may have happened was that SOMEBODY upset Johns enough to make him hold a grudge. And for Fisher's sake, it'd BETTER not have been him. We're only hearing ONE SIDE of the story here, guys. I want to hear Johns' side of the story before we judge.

Fair point.

Saying you don’t want to work with or for someone isn’t the same as a formal resignation. And even if he did intend to quit because he felt Hamada created a hostile environment, then that could be considered a constructive termination depending on the details. That’s very bad for WB.

Ray is very careful with his wording and it’s very possible WB just stepped in with this latest hit piece. But we’ll see.

the timing of it all is no coincidence. But for WB to put out that Hamada was being extended to all the trades, that kinda thing is not something that gets retracted. That was intentional. Its WB daring Fisher to continue this after stating that he'd never work for Hamada. We'll see where it goes, because so far, no one is balking.

The Hamada announcement is so significant and would've been in the works for long enough already that Ray does sound paranoid assuming it's about him. I get it, WB has been fighting with him in the press, but that strikes me as a big assumption.

Ray tweets that he will never work on a Hamada led production. A week later, Hamada's extension till 2023 is announced via the trades. That is not an assumption. Thats a statement.
