I thought of an interesting idea based off a thread title I made in the Batman Forums... Pick 5 movies that are controversial in Geekdom as for being good or bad... Such as Batman and Robin, perchance... Since I been thinking of htat lately, that it might of been good in a really campy sort of way, I need to go back and rewatch it. So I leave it to the hype, everyone nominate one movie you believe should be re-evaluated by members of this forum, and the top five will be chosen and a seperate thread will be made... Let see if this even gets off the ground...

Doesn't have to be a comic book movie...

Batman and Robin (1997)

NOT FOR DISCUSSION, FOR NOMINATIONS

Nominations Thus Far:

Batman and Robin - 1
Hulk - 2
Punisher (2004) - 2
Spiderman 1 - 2
Spiderman 2 - 2
Superman REturns - 1
Howard the Duck - 2
Superman (1978) - 1
Resident Evil - 1

B&R doesn't annoy me anymore, I even find it mildly amusing. Since it is no longer the last word on the Batman franchise, and the movies have returned to being serious, it can go down as a forgettable footnote that taught a valuable lesson to all.

Pick a movie you think has wrongly been critized as crap in Geekdom... Ala the Timothy Dalton movies perhaps which are split down the middle. Or Resident Evil... Even Uwe boll if your heart so does desire... Or movies that are claimed to be amazing which not be the case such as Superman REturns...

Oh, okay... I have no place here... and I am definitely never going to be bigging up a Uwe Boll movie... I don't think anyone ever will.

Hulk in the 'Pick a movie you think has wrongly been critized as crap in Geekdom' category, and Spider-Man in the 'movies that are claimed to be amazing which not be the case' category.

Superman Returns

It gets way too much flack when it's a really good movie. One of my favorites of the whole year.

I'd say The Punisher (Tom Jane version) too. For the same exact reasons.

Agreed on both points. Especially about the Spider-Man movies. I can hardly watch them now.

I didn't know that it gets a load of criticism, but if it does, I agree... I think it's one of the best of the year, one of my favorites too.

I also liked The Punisher.

I don't think Spider-Man's amazing, but I still think it's pretty damn good... I still rate it as a 4 outta 5 flick.

I think it gets short changed quite a bit. Because it doesn't have many action set pieces, no big bad supervillains, and it's structured very much like Superman: the Movie, a lot of people just seem to dislike it. And I didn't have a problem with the kid either. I thought the scene where Superman says the Jor-El speach to his son was very touching.

I liked the kid, cool hair!

Spiderman 1 & 2 get alot of flack when they are genuinely good movies.

REmember this isn't for discussing because when ultimately the 5 are chosen, people who wish to participate will have to go out and rewatch them, so they can properly re-evaluate the movies.

I don't like Superman Returns because as a movie, it's kind of boring. It reminded me somewhat of New World, which was also incedibly boring, while inventive. And there are a lot of inventive scenes in Superman Returns, but alot of things about the movie which could have been high points (the ridiculously high budget, kevin spacey) seem to be wasted here, and not put to good enough use. This is my own oppinion though and I haven't seen it since it came out, so I may need to "reevaluate" it.

Are you kidding me? They are overwhelmingly praised everywhere. And extremely overrated if you ask me.

I can buy that. At least you're not saying "it teh suxors!!!11" because of fanboyish reasons. I'm fine with people not liking it, but not when they don't even give it a chance.

THIS IS NOT FOR DISCUSSION!!!!!! IT'S FOR NOMINATIONS

The point of this thread is not for another stupid debate but to lead ot people rewatching hte movies with open minds so they can come back saying whether they like the movies since many of hte movies people haven't seen in a while, I know I haven't seen either the Hulk or Batman and Robins since it was in theatres...

I have to disagree with you there... more so for Spider-Man 2.

Sorry Hitler.

It doesn't matter what you say. There IS going to be debate in this thread. It's unavoidable. This is a discussion forum. Even if everyone currently posting in here stopped talking, you'd still get people arguing about the movies. But fine, I'll leave.

Your nomination won't count if it goes like this "I liked that too! or I disliked that too!" You want something nominated for this, just say... "I nominate <insert movie here> Also it doesn't have to be a comic book movie... Just a Geek movie of some sort... You could nominate Fight Club if you wanted too...

I don't know why people are getting upset, i don't mind the discussion, the fact that it's derailing the thread is what I do mind... THis is meant to be an enlighting thing in terms of movie watching, the point of a forum, not to take a step backwards... Please let's not be childish by calling people names, I'm merely saying, this is meant for nominations, I don't want this to de-evolve into a flame-war, which it eventually will since some fanboy who can't take other people's opinions iwll come in here, and then the thread will be swallowed up or closed, and I don't want that... I apologize if you can't deal with those intentions...
