Reasons for the disappointing numbers-Discussion

Nice way to back up your opinion. :p
I can back it up all right:

- Sliver Surfer was horribly underused, he was mostly digging potholes for Galactus and I felt the CGI used for him was sub-par.

- Johnny was dragged into space and HE SURVIVED

- The biggest fight in the film was against the London eye (A friggin ferris wheel)

- Doom's return = POINTLESS

- Most of it just seemed like a parody (i.e. Johnny's Hemi question and the Japanese wedding. Fantasticar a Dodge? WTF?)

- Galacloud. Nuff said there.

- Reed Richards dancing (at least SM3's dancing was funny)

- Everyone who was good in the first movie (i.e. Gruffudd, Evans, Chiklis) seemed like they decided to suck in this one.

Overall, this is just Superman IV on steroids. One of the worst superhero movies EVER.

IMO of course....:woot:

EDIT: I don't hate that they did the Japanese wedding because it was Japanese. I'm not racist, I just felt it didn't work for the film. Just to make myself clear.

Dumb director who made Gal a cloud 'cause he doesn't like big robots and that is what it reminded him of, equals, bad numbers.

Get rid of Alba, bring on Galactus, cut down on the cheese, get a new Doom, , make Alicia white as she IS, and maybe things'll get better.

I really don't think audiences didn't flock to FF2 because Galactus wasn't a huge humanoid creature, or cause of doom or that Alicia was white. I think thats just your beef with FF2

I didn't mind that Alicia was black.

Ya, I don't see how that mattered. The reason why FF2 was it catered to children and was quite toned down. I saw it and felt it was a kids movie, and since I am a fan of Julian Mcmahon (dr doom)I enjoyed seeing doom but he was in no way sinister and that is the directors fault.

- Johnny was dragged into space and HE SURVIVED

In the film, Johnny was dragged to space for just a few seconds and he passed out due to lack of oxygen... in the comics, he flew through half the universe to defeat Galactus before he could reach earth... I think that's a fair trade-off. There's no telling how long someone could actually live in space... scientifically speaking, I'm pretty sure he wouldn't just explode.

I was always wondering why--if it was a spur-of-the-moment wedding--how did Alicia, Frankie Raye and the preacher (etc) make it halfway across the world in time to do the ceremony... :csad:

Who said it was a spur of the moment....

*they never stated that...
*there was time to repair the fantasticar...with that, there was plenty of time to get Alicia and Frankie to the wedding....

Also, to the person up there that questioned Johnny's and Frankie's relationship....who said they had a relationship...Johnny simply burned the flower's I'm sure in reference to his "desires" about Frankie, not necessarily hers....there was a connection on both parts, she just played hard to get......if she catches the flowers Johnny might have thought the chase would have ended there....who knows....

To those talking about the Japanese wedding in China....for some reason I don't think Reed Richards would want to get married in a Communist country, therefore flying to nearby Japan seems a plausible choice....

rhetorical question, an answer is not needed...

You will find alot of grammar is lost on message boards.

The first movie was a definite problem to the success. I think Marvel should have done a CGI animated movie instead...but Incredibles beat them too it. Maybe they can restart it in 20 years

LMAO, I'm not sure how old you are....but some around here would take offense to you saying wait..."20 years"....

Sorry... I wasn't meaning to be an a**... in all honesty it confused me at first when I read the statement... but it didn't take me long to figure out what it meant... (I'm an English major and professional writer; I'm used to seeing things written correctly) Please accept my apologies...

But to answer your "rhetorical" question... you're right. No one said that it was "spur-of-the-moment"... I always assumed... I always thought that if it was planned... wouldn't the press be there? ...just as during their New York wedding?

Overall, I think we're over-analyzing... it's a movie... In my opinion, I think it was supposed to be a... "we're here... let's do it." thing and probably happened in the next couple days... also inferring that there was no "relationship" between Frankie and Johhny... she was probably impressed by his nobility in defeating Doom and saving the world and all that... and dropped her "hard-to-get" barriers.

Yeah, 20 years from now a lot of people here will be pushing daisies. Not me though. I will stay young and sexy forever.

I didn't take offense to your comment ... AT ALL ... :yay:

LOL, well around here, comicbook fans are known for over analyzing EVERYTHING.... its what we do here. :cwink:

I can definitely see where your scenario could happen....I think most around here would agree that we are not happy that "we" are the ones coming up with the scenarios.....many questions should have been answered in the movie that were not...

I think Fox goes with one of the 2 thought processes...

One that says, they think we are smart enough as an audience to figure it out ouselves....the second, they think we are dumb enough as an audience to let it pass.....knowing Fox as well as I do, I'm going with the 2nd one....

If your referring to the original appearance (issues 48-50), The Watcher provided the "transportation" capability to allow the Torch to fly thru space :hyper:

You said the truth, but even now..there are some who would defend the film. But i did not really notice that until now,the Japanese wedding. What was that for?To show a more world wide view of the FF?

With the Silver Surfer and the cloud,i don't think there was a point for Dr.Doom being in the film. That's a good point also.

I think there would have been a point if they had made his return meaningful, but he kind of just turned up out of the blue.

Sure there was a point to Doom being in the film - he was the villain! Without him stealing the Surfer's powers, what would we have had for a third act? The FF free the Surfer and he flies up to confront Galactus, the end? That does not involve the FF much at all. With Doom in possession of the power cosmic, they are fighting the ticking clock, they have to defeat him and get the Surfer back to full strength before it's too late! I am not saying that they did a great job, but it did make sense to include that as part of the story.

FF: ROTSS needed a mammoth opening weekend like Transformers did. If FF: ROTSS had generated 152 million over five days, it too would have made a truckload of cash. But I enjoyed FF: ROTSS much more than the pile of garbage that constituted Transformers.

Indeed, for most of your criticism.

And that's a SHAME. Fantastic Four should have been, well, fantastic.

Marvel just wasted a chance to set complete new standards in superhero movies and make a new classic of the genre with these two half-assed failures. :whatever:

In other words, you could have had any other masked creep to do this bit of idiotic and second rate baddy action.

No need for Doom. This is, as people put it right, DINO. :doom:

Uh, that's some profound logic.

And if the Dolphins scored more points than the Giants last weekend they would have won.

You forgot the, I don't know, that FF had to be good in the first place to even make what TF did in it's first weekend.

basically if they made a longer more 'adult' i would have been better

and maybe, jut maybe, had the REAL galactus in it might have helped
