Reboot: Character Portrayal

I personally don't care but it would be a nice nod. Maybe not him appearing at all. Just show an empty chair in the Daily Planet and the plate with the name "Clark Kent" as the ring passes by.

Since it's actually Clark Kent who makes said cameo, the answer would be an immediate "No."

"No" indeed.

If anything there may be a passing reference to Metropolis in that scene from the script; but we won't see Clark or Superman.

Having Superman in the movie would take a bit away from GL seeing as how GL isn't a big name in the mainstream and having Superman there would overshadow him. If anything, a reference to Krypton's destruction (possibly how a GL failed to stop it) would be appropriate.

Whoever would have guessed the Superman franchise would be in development hell again and we would be putting our hopes to seeing him make a cameo in a GL film... :(

Way to go WB! :down

I disagree. If WB does hope to one day make a JL film why are we so against DC heroes cameoing in other DC heroes' films??? We all LOVED it when Tony Stark showed up at the end of Incredible Hulk and I bet people would love it if Thor showed up in Iron Man 2.... but it seems like just about every poster was against Clark Kent/Superman showing up in a GL film... why? I'm not.

Superman could show up in GL, then maybe GL could show up in the Flash film, and in Wonder Woman (whenever that happens!) could have cameos...

we gotta build up to a JL film somehow...

For me, at this point, it would seem like DC/WB are just copy-catting Marvel's brilliant plan to purposefully construct a celluloid super-hero universe.

I don't care. I don't mind the little "cameo" for him that the GREEN LANTERN script had, but its hardly neccessary.

Marvel's approach to building their universe being "brilliant" is laying it on a little thick.

Clark Kent if not Superman in the GL movie? It would be great!!! A lovely gift for the Superman fans. And for this reason it will not happen.

I voted no. I don't want a 10 sec cameo just so they can list Brandon as one of the stars for ads and such.

If it is a true cameo with a real purpose and several minutes time in the finished movie okay. But I would hate to see Clark or Superman or Brandon (since he is the most likely person used) treated like a product placement akin to having a 'Coke' on the table!

Well, I don't like the idea either, but a Superman cameo would certainly boost box office numbers.

In the script, all it is.... is the ring is searching for a suitable candidate and it briefly shows Metropolis' Clark Kent at the Daily Planet as a possibility..

That can easily be cut or done in a way that doesn't show Clark.

There's no dialogue so it's not really a cameo either; more like a glorified easter egg.

I say no. Because when something should happen on earth, you'd wonder why Superman doesn't lend a hand when he's around.

I thought Brandon Routh was an amazing Clark Kent and Superman. He won me over with the first showing of SR and I went in not even sure if I wanted to see the film. Came out planing a return viewing time after time till I was able to Buy the DVD. That is how much I loved SR.

I want the character played like he is real and that is what they did.

from reading this thread, it seems like only man of tommorow and the guard have the right idea concerning clark

Everyone else is too obsessed with post crisis...which is ironic, because these same people will bash singer for being obsessed with one version of supes....

While your point is valid, you could use that to point out the flaw in every comic book written today.... why does Batman fight the Joker when he could just ask Superman to kick his butt for him? Why does Spiderman battle Doc Octopus when he could ask a stronger hero like Thor to take him out in one blow? Soooo... valid point, but it could be applied to all comic books and superhero universes and you kinda have to just "assume" not every superhero wants to ask for the "bigger, badder" superhero's help all the time.

Plus isnt that the entire point for creating a "superhero team"... to fight the baddies that no single hero could tackle alone?

So technically, your point is the reason why the JL SHOULD eventually form. Because a bad guy comes along that neither Superman, GL, etc can handle singlehandedly.

I doubt it. I don't see people flocking to the GL just because Clark Kent's in it for less than 30 seconds. Like MOT said, it's a glorified Easter egg for the fans.

not when Superman doesn't have an actor set for the next movie
