If this wasn't directed by the person who did twilight, you guys would never have brought the subject up. I'm not a defender of Twilight in any way, i'm as dissapointed as most are in those films, but it does often feel like people pre judge thing's because of a directors previous work. Maybe we could all just learn something by waiting & seeing what the movies like. We all know trailers can often times be missleading & not always represent the true feel of a movie.

It seriously does have the look of Twilight . That doesn't mean the story or acting is as bad.

Would you feel better if I said it looks like a lamer Vampire Diaries? The point it that it looks derivative.

It lacks it's own "ownness"

Judging from the trailer the film has a "Twilight" tone to it but honestly it didn't look that bad, I'm giving it a chance since Gary Oldman and Amanda Seyfried is in this.

Here's a poster.

Visually it looks great but there is a definite teen romance vibe that repels me.

Does this have a rating yet?

Just noticed Virginia Madsen is in this. :hrt:

Hmmm...I hope they go the "grimm" route and have the wolf kill a lot of people AND get away. That's what I call a happy ending.

This looks horrible. And the two male leads...ewwww.

Also, Seyfried is totally the werewolf, amirite?

i do like twilight
but having "from the director of twilight" above a movie poster like this would repel people away for obvious reasons

it runis it along with the taglines because the picture itself is quite good

The trailer is on www.apple.com/trailers right now.

I was pleasantly surprised. It looks absolutely nothing like the fairy tale. It instead looks like they took the formula of an Andrew Kevin Walker horror movie (Sleepy Hollow and The Wolfman), what with a supernatural iconic horror terrorizing a small superstitious community full of classic Hollywood horror movie folklore, complete with a murder mystery of "Whodunit/Whodunbethemonster".....mixed with teen sex.

Despite it's obviously commercial inspirations and this being the director of Twilight....I loved Tim Burton's Sleepy Hollow and enjoyed the director's cut of The Wolfman, despite its flaws. I hope this is more like the former than the latter and that the teen angst is kept to a minimum.

i gotta say.. i hate this director but this movie looks decent.

that cheesy teen romance works in a fantasy period setting like this..i just hope they dont go overboard and have the dialoge be as bad as twilight.

Uh, No. This is not a dig on you but some people speak about things like this on fairy tales when they really don't even know which version is which.

The Brothers Grimm never wrote an rendition in which the wolf killed people and got away. The earliest version of Red Riding Hood came from the French as a sort of oral storytelling tradition. It gained more fame when it was officially made into a book by Charles Perrault in the 17th century, in his book the wolf killed the grandmother and little red, no happy ending whatsoever. About two centuries later, it was the Brothers Grimm who gave the story a happy ending, they created the huntsman who saved Grandma and Little Red and killed the wolf.

Like I said, I'm only explaining because there are so many people out there who think the Grimms created the darkest renditions of the fairy tales when they in fact did not. Anyway, as for this film. It looks mediocre, could be decent though. And as others have said, it looks very much like Twilight with an 18th century setting. I'm not a fan of these bad teen re-imaginings. Burton's Alice in Wonderland was plain awful and this looks only a few notches better at best. The only hope for this short lived rebirth could be Bryan Singer's Jack the Giant Killer.

The cinematography looks gorgeous in this. The color pops of red look awesome. My only gripe is that this looks like it could be a really great mature take on the legend. It certainly looks very Hammer-esque, But the dialogue is so terribly trite and modern in the worst of ways. Maybe if all the actors had accents? I don't know. It certainly looks interesting, otherwise.

For the meantime, however, I'll take that wicked segment from In The Company of Wolves.

:awesome: Appreciation.

I hope they go all "Charles Perrault " on this .

The trailer reminded me of the cover to the twilight books, but certainly not the film. Seriously, the directing in twilight was ****, the directing in this looks AMAZING, provided they keep to the original allegory and symbols.

Say what you will about Twilight, but I loved the colors and atomsphere and cinematography of the first Twilight. i hope to see that in this film - just with a better story, acting, effects, etc....

Gary Oldman is enough to get me to watch this, but the director of Twilight is a big enough reason to get me to not watch also...

I think the word you're looking for is "gothic horror". Sleepy Hollow and The Wolfman were both that, and the RRH poster is very gothic horror, but the trailer is not so much, there are some shots, but overall it looks more fairy tale-ish.

Other recent gothic horrors: Black Death, Sauna, Shadow of the Vampire, Sweeney Todd.

They were the big thing back in the 60s and 70s with Hammer Horror and Italian horror.

I'm excited for this film. It may be by "the director of Twilight," but she also directed "Thirteen," which I thought was fantastic.

I like the fact that the film has a darkness to it. And it doesn't hurt that Leo DiCaprio is the one who wanted it to be made :o

its funny because i saw the trailer but i didnt see the part who is the director. so i am thinking that this looks and feels like a twilight movie. and then i found out that its Hardwicke. he he :)

i think there is nothing wrong if this is for the twilight crowd. its not like we all were waiting for 20 years for this movie and now its not for us(guys).

There were no colours in twilight... It was all done with low saturation. And the cinematography in twilight was ****. This film actual has a nice contrast of low saturation and vibrant colours and it looks to have amazing cinematography - at least that's what I got from the trailer alone. That trailer alone blows twilight out of the water.

Yup. This movie DOES have some big names attached. Leo DiCaprio as producer. Amanda Seyfried, Gary Oldman, Virgina Madsen, and Julie Christie as actors. And, I doubt these people are involved because it's by the "director of Twilight."

Big names doesn't mean quality. Gary Oldman was also in Lost in Space. Amanda Seyfried was in Dear John and Letters to Juliet. Virginia Madsen was in The Number 23.

DiCaprio producing is interesting, I'll give you that.

At least this should be a lot more violent than Twilight so it won't seem as campy.
