Redo a scene or line or...

Little, and not with effect on the trilogy, just affecting their scenes

Isn't that what was asked though? To re-do scenes?

Changing up dreadful dancing scenes is a big issue; not something like changing the way Otto should be acting when he woke up from the massacre of his tentacles. One is a little action while the other takes up an entire scene.

Goofball arrogant dorky Peter, not emo Peter

tumblr_l55opvR8sC1qzfdsjo1_r1_500.gif

Yah...nothing emo about this. That's emo; no way is that an arrogant dork...besides, those two words cannot go hand in hand. Whatever Raimi was trying to accomplish failed because "arrogant" and "dork" will never go hand in hand.

They are short, minor, and easier to ignore than what you defend

 Taking away how the symbiote should be acting to its host is not easy to ignore.

The entire franchise revolves around a dork, you can't expect him to be as evil as the Web of Shadows version (TREMENDOUSLY wrong version BTW)

You think Web of Shadows' version was evil? HAH! Black-suited Spidey was still as dumb as the game itself; breaking Wolverine in half wasn't even an "evil" move as it made the game even more dumb.

The franchise revolved around a "dork", but that doesn't justify the reasoning that the symbiote couldn't have made him more dark, as it would've been a perfect polar opposite to who Peter truly is and that's what the symbiote is about. Peter in TAS and TSSM were polar opposites when in contact with the symbiote.

No, it was shorter than his last fight with Sandman, and with his first

The first Sandman fight was about 1:40, the second fight was about 3-ish minutes.

The jazz scene was 1:20-ish and the montage was 1:30-ish.

Still damn close enough.

Ignothing, it's in its proper place, same universe has the same rules apply to it, and losing his powers in SM2 doesn't prevent losing his powers in SM3

He was better at his job and he was with the woman he loved. If anything, he would've only lost his powers when Mary Jane broke up with him, although he was still filled with rage to overcome that and that was towards Harry. No where was there time for him to "sulk", as you call it, for him to over think things and lose his powers.

But it did

What? Haha. He was "lovesick" and stressful. That wasn't anger.

Which is a very stupid cause for him to lose his powers, hence, stupid movie

It worked for the movie. I am not fully into the idea of him losing his powers because of what happened in his life, but it is what it is, much like Otto being sympathetic in the end. Things work solely for the movie itself, which was NOT stupid for what it was worth.

There's a few things that could change here or there, but I'd probably give Mary Jane some more spunk in general. Dunst was short-changed.

Know something? The entire trilogy needs rewiring

Spider-Man - fine as is, but Norman Osborn should've had more in the story, thus the film should have been longer

Spider-Man 2 - fine as is, although Harry's hinted future at becoming a Goblin should've been an orange tie instead; Otto's tentacles shouldn't have had a mind of their own

Spider-Man 3 - I would've used John Jameson in this film as well as someone who brings the symbiote with him, much like a scene taken straight from Spider-Man:TAS where Spidey rescues Jameson from the crash and perhaps a little plot of Jameson and Peter collaborating, maybe Jameson telling Peter that he doesn't blame him for MJ running out on him(continuity!); more screen time for Gwen Stacy and Eddie Brock and make the symbiote much more evil and not turning Peter emo; have Peter become vengeful towards Harry after he attacked him which the symbiote feeds on thus eliminating the retcon of Flint Marko being the real killer to Uncle Ben although keep Sandman as a villain; end the film with a final swing as the other previous films

There is so much to chose from to redo IMO. Hard to pick out a few.

SM1. I never felt the consequences of Peter being Spider-Man. The physical threats he faced on a day to day basis. I never felt Aunt May disapproved of Spider-Man. Heck, she seemed to be his biggest fan, especially by SM2 (in SM3, she was basically reduced to a painful cameo role recalling Uncle Ben in Speedos. *still gives me the shivers*)

I never felt what I did for the comic Peter growing up where he was completely isolated by the suit... where his Aunt (the woman who raised him like her own child) would of DIED if she had found out Peter was Spider-Man. Heck, it was a complete opposite in SM2, she was his biggest fan and encouraging Peter to go back to being Spider-Man it seemed (wait in line to say you saw the hero).

I truly only felt Aunt May's pain in the one scene in SM2, with the $20 bill (gift) to Peter for his birthday. ONE of the BEST Scenes in the whole movie/movies, and made me really MISS that feeling from the comics in SM1 with Aunt May.

Redo the scene where Norman discovers that Peter is Spider-Man:

Hated that he simply stormed out. Hated that he did not take more advantage to torture Peter with his new found knowledge. Hated the "Finish IT" scene.

I would of rather had seen something like in the comics where Peter realizes that Norman knows at a dinner party at the Osborn mansion, in front of his friends.

Now, that would of required (to be more effective) a different approach to Spider-Man. Unfortunately, Raimi's Spider-Man felt VERY closed in and centering ALL around one girl... where you did not have the rich cast of characters and dynamics you had in the comics... that so added to the value of that scene.

And, you had an Aunt May that it seemed was the biggest fan of Spider-Man's in Raimi's world, and thus, it would not have been such a BIG deal if she had discovered that Peter was Spider-Man.

People are always complaining about the lack of quips and patter during Spidey's fights, so as I think of moments, and come up with lines that might fit, without getting in the way of the action of course, I will post them in the thread...

SM3: 1st fight with Sandman...

Instead of Spidey saying 'Uh-Oh' when his punch is caught in Sandman's stomach...you could either have him say..

"ehh, can I have my punch back?"

and then Sandman punches him out of the van.

or....you could just have Spidey saying...

"Son of a beach..."

before being punched out of the van.

edit:

SM2: When Spidey is chasing after the armed robber's car, and lands on the back of the car...

"What's that guys? You wanna trade your car in? Well, the best I can do for you, is this shiny...lampost!"

edit:

SM1: When Spidey confronts the Goblin in the burning building...

GG: "Are you in or are you out?"

SM: "With this outfit?! I'm out! Why, what you are you up to on Saturday night?"

That's pretty good, Bum. I especially like the Sandman lines you came up with.

Thanks, I deleted the couple of lines I came up with for the Green Goblin festival fight, they were ok, maybe a bit juvenile, haha, but mainly I thought they would detract from the danger in the scene to an extent.

There is one scene that I think needs a comeback line from Spidey, but i am stumped for a good one, the bit in Spider-man 3 when Brock says to Spidey that Parker shoots him in a way that makes him 'look chunky'...

ok, i am gonna post the best one i can think of...

SM3:

Brock: "when Parker shoots you he always makes you look a little overweight, y'know, just a little chunky."

edit: terrible line, forgetaboutit haha

I don't know though, you still have to carry the sense that Spidey is wondering who the hell this daft guy Brock is...so it's not really a suitable quip, and maybe not a suitable moment to quip...

and instead of Spidey saying "Here's your change!" to Doc Ock as he hits him with the bag of coins...

"Piggy bank spank!"

haha, that is a terrible line, but it is maybe so bad it is good.

I know alot of people hate the strutting in Spider-man 3. I like the first scene when Peter is walking down the street, but the one at the jazz club was kinda cringe-worthy. I'd love to change that scene by getting rid of Peter jumping around on the bar,but keep his dance with Gwen. Although I would change to music to something more "seductive" and make Peter's dance with Gwen alot more sexier.

Hahaha that made. You're right it is so bad it's good (no offense)
I think it would have been better if it was just slightly different like, "keep the change" idk it seems better than the original line IMO , it would help if he didn't yell as much while saying it.

Love that a lot for some reason.

From the SM3 Novelisation...

"What sandbox did you crawl out of?"

"Don't you know the penalty for an early withdrawal?"

Funnily enough; Chapter 11 is called "Son of a Beach"

Id redo spiderman 3 by not even having Venom. You could still introduce Eddie Brock if you wanted, but leave Venom for the sequel that could have happened if 3 wasn't as heavily criticized.

Instead, id have dr connors become the lizard king and have harry and pete battle throughout the movie. In other words, make the build up that was established in the first two movies actually pay off. Ramp up the emotion between peter and harry and make it a key element of the story.

I rewatched the original Spider-man today. I still love the movie alot. I hadn't really seen it in a while but it really made me see that Dafoe's Goblin is the cheesiest villain of the series, and one of the cheesiest in comic book history. His lines were horrible in most cases(and cliche)and when you mix that with his Power ranger costume it just comes out so damn flat. Dafoe is really great as Norman though, even when he's "talking" to himself, but once he put that Goblin suit on...Ugh.

How could Raimi make SM3 any good if he has to have Venom as a villain, you have to have the symbiote first. It's like Avi Arad didn't get this, why couldn't he let Raimi have just the symbiote in SM3 and have Venom in SM4.

Answer is,because the movie was gonna end as a trilogy and Avi Arad wanted to give fans Venom.

I don't know why they wanted the movie to end with SM3 since it was a successful movie franchise for them.

And so Raimi had to give us Harry's revenge by becoming a goblin, and have one of his classic villains that he orignally planned, and another villain that was forced on him.

Raimi could of made Harry get his revenge instead of being a goblin,he could of had Harry make a super villain Electro to kill spidey.

And show how Peter was really sick when he was a kid and how his dad put the symbiote into Peter's body to cure him.Show how the symbiote has been dormat this whole time.

But all the electricity that Electro zaps on spidey wakes it,creating the black spider-man.

Then spidey defeats Electro and takes it off, then Venom is the main villain.

Then when they wanted to do SM4,Raimi could of done his Vulture/Sandman story.

SM5 his Lizard story.

Too bad, what a shame that it didn't go down a different way.

SM3:
Venom: Parker
Spider-Man: Eddie Brock
Venom: Don't call us that, we want you dead so we will make you go splat on the cement *punches spidey*
Spider-Man: lands on the bar catching his breathe
*Then, goes to Venom pulling spidey on to the bar by his neck and sandman punching him*

Well SM3 felt like a fanfiction so there's wayy to much to change in that. Change the whole damned movie I say. It had a few good moments but good god were they lost in the glaring flair of retro.

I really love the first two films and don't think I'd want many things changed or altered. Wasn't a fan of Ock's tentacles having some mind of their own but it worked well as a sort of "man lost to his work" sort of subplot. Would've been a lot better if they didn't make it so explicit though -- it'd come off as Ock talking to himself like you do when you've totally lost it.

I'd change a few of Tobey's lines. Especially at the end of SM2 where MJ tells him its finally time someone saved his life and asks him to say something. He blurts out "thank you mary jane watson" in what amounts to be a funny moment for his geekiness. I'd have changed that to something a bit more playful. Though i can't think of anything at the moment :oldrazz:

I don't think you need a separate Venom film to explain the symbiote -- it works great for serialised comics but it's sort of a good thing to have self-contained stories for films. On that note, I love the fact that we saw Harry's character really go through an arc in this trilogy.

Answer is,because the movie was gonna end as a trilogy and Avi Arad wanted to give fans Venom.

As far as I recall Sandman was always a big favourite of everyone around: Raimi, Maguire, Arad, etc. They should've went with Pete's wedding story this time. But as for keeping it within SM3 it's only because of sequel-anxiety, how many good movies end on 4 right? In this case, none.

And show how Peter was really sick when he was a kid and how his dad put the symbiote into Peter's body to cure him.Show how the symbiote has been dormat this whole time. But all the electricity that Electro zaps on spidey wakes it,creating the black spider-man.

You're thinking more about TASM here, since Pete's parents weren't even a focus in the first trilogy. I like the meteor-crashing "traditional" explanation straight off the animated series. Would've liked it better if they tied it in with John Jameson.

SM3 should've stuck with Harry as the main bad, and gone with Mysterio instead of Sandman. It'd have appealed to Raimi's love of B-rated film theatrics. Make him into this really worthy foe on a criminal level and not as sympathetic. But heck, since they got Venom they should've at least taken more cues from the animated series.

For one thing: "God I want you to kill Spider-Man" should've been changed.
