Reintroducing Superman: An Open Discussion

The above wasn't helpful to your cause.

I do not read comics. I just know about characters from what tons of people have said about them. Do not like reading really.

Yet you post here and type stuff surely that involves some reading? ;)

By the way I stopped getting comics a few years ago. Although I did get a little in 2006. They're too hard to get and expensive.

This is why I have a hard time having faith in WB, it seems supermax has bit the dust.( not like it was ever gonna happen anyway)

I'm of the mind now ( I think) that WB may NOT make another Superman film, at least anytime soon..
Unless the "Begin filming one by 2011, or else" ruling still stands.

Im gonna cosign Fresh Prince
Honestly it's because to me comics arent that interesting anymore. I mean in Superman nowadays there is like a whole city of Kryptonians, In Batman Bruce Wayne is dead but anybody with half a brain knows hes gonna be back sooner or later, and in Flash they're bringing back a character who has been dead for 20 yrs with the seeming notion of "Because we can". Blackest Night and Captain America: Reborn are the only storylines that interests me between both Dc and Marvel

These movies arent just for the comic readers so I like it that we have ppl who aren't readers of the comics. And most of the time ppl aren't talking out of their ass even if they dont read the comics. I was in the GL thread for like a year and honestly I havent read that many Hal Jordan stories. It gives a fresh look on the movie not to only have ppl who read the comics on a regular basis.

I basically do what Octoberist does: buy TPBs and usually their from older stories anyways

OT: What the hell is happening in Wonder Woman comics currently

Yeah too many Superman's. Should only be one.

I am actually hoping that WB loses the rights to Superman. They've done enough damage already.

It sounds like the Siegels just own additional material. In addition to owning/co-owning all of the characters elements, etc appearing in Action Comics #1, they also are co-owners, with DC on the story Appearing in Superman #1 p.3-6 (which is essentially a re-hash of Action #1 anyway) and the stories in the first two weeks of the comic strip, and presumably any and all elements appearing within. It sounds like it means jack, in the overall scheme of things. I don't think Kryptonite, the Fortress of Solitude (or Citadel, as I believe the GA version was called), etc were as yet created. I don't recall if the Daily Star was already the Daily Planet, or if Perry was there by then. I don't think so though. They haven't really gained any new elements that I can tell, but I'm sure it will help them in the overall copyright case.

The trial sounds convoluted as all heck.

All with the debate about current comic books, some people just kinda outgrow them as they get older. Let's face it. Some people keep up, some people don't.It doesn't mean that comic books today are anything bad because you do have some great titles from DC and Marvel from time to time, and I love Image/Dark Horse/ Indie Comics.

What really needs to happen is a deal between both sides. Easier said than done.

well I think DC got the better end for a long time, If Im either estate I try to squeeze DC/WB for every cent I can

Why are people who do not read comics here?

There is nothing wrong with just being into the movies and cartoon/TV shows... you honestly think everyone on the Hype reads comics? I stopped reading a WHILE back. I like the classic stuff and own a few issues of my favorite characters, but did I ever keep up to date on every character I liked by purchasing every weekly issue? Hell no... I think it's ridiculous to knock people who don't read the comics, unless they have absolutely no clue what they are talking about.

sad, but true. WB has their last shot, and considering what they did in the past... oh, well... lets see.

This has be one of the most annoying comments I hear from people IMO. Sorry Superdaniel, but what do you think is going to happen if WB looses the rights. Some other studio will ride in on their horse and save the day, maybe fox will because we see how great they've treated their own properties. Even if WB lost the rights, which they wont they own almost all the trademarks to the character that the Siegles wouldnt be able to do anything with him. The family wants money, I dont blame them if they can. But don't think another company is going to touch the character and pay for it without his villains and symbol included.

co sign

I also hope that WB doesnt lose the right because I like how they have the rights to all DC characters. It gives them a chance to make a DC film universe.
But it seems that they don't know what to do. I mean with a time like this where superhero movies are big theyve released SR, the Nolan Batman films, Watchmen, & The Spirit.
They seem like their nervous with releasing other DC properties that would probaly make more money than Jonah Hex, Watchmen, or The Spirit.
It seems that they really dont see the potential with much. Hopefully the GL film changes that

I thought that after TdK they would have realised just how much a ''CB'' film can make for them, but appearently not. Dont get me wrong, i'm glad GL is being made, but outside of that what do we have. What about Superman? Flash? W.W.? Those are the characters that even the GP knows to a certain extent. Not Jonah Hex or the spirit.

Jonah Hex is also a Western character, so you'll get fans of westerns in the door...its been a while since a good western anyway
