The Dark Knight Rises Release date for the TDK Sequel; July 20, 2012

Definitely looking forward to the final chapter in this amazing trilogy but I'm not a fan of the release date.

Releasing within the time frame of The Avengers, The next Star Trek and the next Spiderman movie? I don't know about that...

I feel that Batman 3 will be fine.

I know, but I can't help but worry that reviewers will compare it to the other "superhero movies" released. It's inevitable, but I'm not a fan of that.

It may compare it but it also has a Quality Predecessor that it will be compared to and that is what im more worried about. Can we get a Raiders of the Lost Arc out of Nolan?

To me it seems like joker would anticipate anything batman would do.

The entire thing it seems as though he wanted to prove batman was no Bette than him(a killer), wouldn't joker predict that batman would catch him is not kill him.

Could he take the necessary steps to escape or enact a plan, I believe so.

That's why Batman didn't want Joker to win so he took the blame.

Well since almost all post-TDK superhero movies are compared to TDK, I think the biggest concern is BB3 being compared to TDK, not BB3 compared to whatever's coming out that year. :funny:
Fair point. We'll see what happens...

Wow, there will be a "man-slaughter" in summer 2012 in films!!

dude, I don't think I'm ready for all these (what should be at least decent) films coming out. 2011 and 2012 is going to be film overload from what I'm seeing

Ice Age isn't going to take away any of Batman 3's audience. If it opened the same weekend, I still don't think it would be an issue. Not the same audience at all. Any non-kid who is a big enough fan to see something like Ice Age in the theatre I highly doubt even liked TDK.

The release date for Batman 3 is no issue whatsoever for me. Whatever competition that is around it doesn't matter. As long as it is a high quality film, it will make a killing no matter when it is released.

I think at least one of those big movies is gonna move. There's always one.

Exactly only the little ones and their parents who take them to theaters will be seeing Ice Age. The next Bat film will have a much broader audience.

Exactly....there will be a handful that get moved to August or Labor Day weekend or to November or December.

Studios will realize there is no point with competing with other big time movies when they can potentially make more money by moving their film to another not so busy date for a release.

Christopher Nolan gave Batman his dignity back.

Frank miller gave batman his dignity back first, it's just Joel ruined all progress that was done.

It's a weird cycle, actually. The 60s Batman show turned the franchise one way, and Burton came in to reinvent it. It then gets followed by Joel, and Nolan comes in just as Tim did to change misconceptions on the character.

I'm crossing my fingers we're not headed for another campfest. :o

If some people here got their way, we probably would.

:woot:

I enjoyed Forever and the Adam West series, as well as the comics from that era. I'll admit, I wouldn't mind a series of films done in the fashion of West's show/movie. It's gotta have the same type of humor that did though, or it wouldn't work. (You know you all love the scene in Batman: The Movie when the missle is headed for Batman and Robin, the camera looks away as it hits them, then in the very next scene Batman and Robin are on the batboat talking about how brave the animal was that jumped in front of the missle). That's gold right there, love that movie

i agree...alot of garbage ideas being thrown around in these threads recently...cant wait for real news to the filming that is actually good...will be a breath of fresh air!

One of the best scenes in any Batman movie:

^that's what I'm talking about, give me a campy trilogy done in the fashion of West's Batman and I'll be a happy camper

2012 is a decent date, there's no way a good film could've been inbtween Inception and 2011. Atleast we are more than likely getting Nolan back.

I think it's obvious where it'll take off. Batman outlawed and vilified by the media, public and authorities, maybe Gordon promotion and being told to take Batman out, all the while Batman having to get his job done whilst evading them.

As for the villain of the piece, i'm pretty set against Joker having a major part, or at all, considering a recast would be pretty disasterous. With some people here advocating a recast with gordon-levitt and i just think wtf

I'd rather he was referred to, but they focus elsewhere, primarily Riddler. I read somehwere that the next villain would be waging a war against Batman, but using different tactics to the Joker, staying hidden, not revealing his hand etc. I have no idea where the action is going to come from, perhaps a full scale mob war and arkham breakout/freak riot into Gotham for the finale? I don't know, maybe it won't be as epic as TDK but who cares atleast we get a good film :yay:

Yep and the respect for the Batman character was re established as well!

Thanks to Chris Nolan and his filmmaking team!

I think the action should come from whats left of the mob to hire a hitman/assassin to challenge Batman physically.
