The Dark Knight Rises Release date for the TDK Sequel; July 20, 2012

You missed out on a lot of fun with the bootleg trailers and such. :oldrazz:

This time around we really need to plan it out for when the bootlegs arrive. It can get a bit much, with people PMing one member for a YouTube link.
Someone should create a dummy account that certain fans know how to get to, no clues in the title, no tags, no way of the admins there pulling it down.

The chaos was fun, but when a new trailer gets leaked people just want to see it.

Agreed. I would prefer to see Nolan spending his time on fresher ideas than a franchise with 6 movies in less than 20 years. The other thing is, look what happened to the likes of Singer and Raimi. They got thrown under the bus by fanboys simply for making a couple of mediocre superhero movies, neither of which are that bad when compared with the truly terrible superhero movies like Batman & Robin. What if Nolan makes a movie that is good but not as good as BB/TDK? Does he get thrown under the bus? With the way people overreact on the Internet, I wouldn't be surprised at all.

I think one thing that will help Nolan is the fact that unlike Raimi and Singer he hasn't been stuck to just his franchise all these years. I think having The Prestige in between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight was the best thing for the second film, and I can see the same thing happening with Inception being in between TDK and Batman 3. Plus also with this being the final film and Nolan wanting it that way, I think he we will make sure he gives it all he has. We'll just have to wait and see what happens.

I'm more of a fan of Nolan's work outside of Batman so I don't have anywhere near the expectations that some of the fanboys might have for the next Batman movie. There's no way I could ever throw him under the bus even if Batman 3 is the worst Batman movie ever (hard to top B&R in that department, of course). I'm too big of a fan of Following, Memento, and The Prestige to ever think, "ZOMG this guy ruined Batman, he's the worst director EVER." That's exactly what happened with Singer and Raimi around here unfortunately. Granted, I think Nolan is better than either of them if for no other reason than he is a talented screenwriter whereas Singer is basically a gun for hire director and Raimi's writing is good but not great. Screenwriting is such an underrated element of the movie business. Reminds me of the main character in Sunset Boulevard.

I'll never throw Nolan under the bus after what he did for my favorite superhero. Never. I never loved Film Batman until Batman Begins. I loved comic and cartoon Batman but the films lacked for me. Nolan fixed that, so even if the third film is the worst I don't care. he's already given me more than I thought would happen for the films. It also helps that his other movies are AWESOME! Can't wait for Inception.

As long as there's no studio interference I think Nolan can deliver a great third film. This was the main reason why the third X-men and Spider-man films weren't good.

If I lived in LA I would be there in front seat already (OK, maybe back row is alright too)! Alas, I don't. So, is there any possibility for members who live in LA or California to try to be there and inform us firsthand? Please??:woot:
I was gonna jump for it, but the tickets are EXPENSIVE. $44 for a double-feature day or $96 for all three. I want to see Nolan AND Blade Runner, but they're on different days. :csad:

I'll have to think about it. :oldrazz: If nobody else pipes up, I'll be the sacrificial lamb, LOL.

Man Scott and Nolan in the same room. That would be geek overload for me.
They're not. It's one guy each day. I know, it would have been awesome. :csad:

I think people overreacted because the movies were very disappointing compared to what we had been expecting for them. People were excited about a new Superman, but the movie didn't have him do much (and was out-of-character to boot). People were excited about Venom, and we all know what happened to Venom. :oldrazz:

Since Nolan already used Two-Face and Joker, maybe expectations will be a little more grounded. Unlikely, though. :funny:

Ahem, I had a dummy email addy with video links in the autoresponse that I had put right into my signature. And yet people didn't know what to do with it. :oldrazz: Not my fault!

Well Spider-Man 3 was the only one that the studio interfered with.

I think people know it's very difficult to top such good portrayals of Joker/Dent but that won't stop them from making the inevitable comparisons. Hell, I can see it already: "such and such actor just isn't as good as Ledger...therefore the movie sucks." :oldrazz:

The studio interference thing might work with Venom but it doesn't excuse some of the other terrible elements in the film. The melodramatic dialogue/acting between Peter and MJ. The fact that Dunst was singing for crying out loud. Sandman's portrayal was pretty awful as well. I'll give them a pass on Venom/symbiote but everything else was Raimi and his brother.

The dancing.

Directly tied into the symbiote. So I give them a pass on it. But they do not get a pass on the actors phoning it in with soap opera quality dialogue spewing out of their mouths.

Yeah, no.

Yeah, the symbiote was making him do all that stuff. Venom shouldn't have been in that to begin with.

Well Spider-Man 3 was the only one that the studio interfered with.

X-men 3 had interference also. When Singer went to do Superman Returns, instead of waiting for him they decided to rush production so that it would come out in Summer 2006. They didn't have a director until weeks before filming was to begin. And when a director is finally on board, it's Brett Ratner, who had grown a reputation for being a hack, *****bag, MTV music video, action director.

They also didn't wanna wait for several actors to take care of prior engagements before filming. As a result several characters were either "killed off" or had very little screentime.

All those words when you could have just said he had grown the same reputation as Michael Bay. :oldrazz:

Maybe we will get some (or none) more information about the sequel earlier than the Comicon (which personally I doubt but let's hope) in this festival. I bet Nolan receives A LOT of questions about the sequel there (see last paragraph). By the way, this event seems awesome, arghh, I would like to be there, I love Scott also!!
Ill be there on saturday!!!

Ahhh almost time for the heavy pre-hype days.

I really hope this brings back some of the old Bat Hypers that have disappeared over the years.
Im back honey...

Venom should have been spiderman 4 villain enough said.
They had it perfectly set up, all they had to do was not show brock for the rest of the movie.

Also I think James Franco was a perfect villain(the scene in which he eats pie is how the whole movie should have played out.

I think spiderman should have been way more brutal in black suit.

But I like James franco and I wouldn't even mind him appearing in B3(maybe not as the main villain but in a role none the less).

James Franco's role in General Hospital rip offed The Dark Knight.

the ending of the storyline where jason the hitman has to choose which location to go to save either his girlfriend or another close friend was definitely a dark knight rip-off. General Hospital does that sometimes (24, the Departed) Franco was The Joker to Jason's Batman.

 you know that the hospital scene has been in films for a long time right?

Err...no. That's not what I was talking about.

Exactly. Thank you.

I hate to get off topic but to me, When Batman walks in and realizes that Joker switched the addresses, is the best scene in the movie. You can literally see his "Oh *****" face and the realization that Alfred was right about "watching the world burn". It was well written and well executed.

And people still argued whether Batman purposely went after Dent. :funny:

It was pretty much at that moment where all the s**t hits the fan in the movie. Everything starts crashing down around them and the Joker takes over.
