Remakes that wouldn't drive you crazy!

Actually, after watching 'Westworld' foe the 1st time in years last night - I'm now officially adding it to the remake list.

The original is undoubtedly a classic, but I wanna see what they could do with that movie given the SFX available nowadays.

Come to think of it; on reflection, the only movies I ever even consider wanting remade are mainly for that very reason - I want to see the movie made with state of the art SFX that would do it justice.

I think a remake of the movie Clockwork Orange would be super cool.

Films you wouldn't mind seeing remade. Here's one I would be alright with. Short Circuit, as good as it was, it was limited to the special effects of the 80s. Although I liked the sequel better, but that's beside the point. I think it would be a good candidate for a remake.

Short Circuit is an incredible movie with some amazing new discoveries that it brought to the table like Johnny himself. I really don't see this being remade, maybe re-modeled sort of like the upcoming Disney/Pixar flick Wall-E, that seems to be the closest we'll get to see this happen, anyhow, I don't think I'd every want to see them remake Short Circuit because although today's technology is great, there is no way in hell they can get better then Johnny 5, alike Star Wars and their creations, they just can't do better, that's why the second Star Wars trilogy(Episodes I-III) will never be compared to the original.

Friday the 13th - I'd just like to see this franchise start fresh and maybe branch out into three flicks if the first does well. I guess I'm just sick of seeing classic horror icons get screwed over like they have been for so long. I think that they should change some elements around: Jason doesn't drown in Crystal Lake, he survives, focus one muliple characters and allow us to connect with them a little more; unlike the originals, don't make it so obvious as to who's going to outlast Jason by following them throughout the majority of the movie.

Short Circuit, I could buy a sequel, not a remake...

I can think of remakes right now... I usually hate the idea of remakes...

dinosaur island
and don't leave out the ceremony of o-mapa

I was just thinking yesterday that there has never been a decent adaptation of any of H.G. Wells novels. So I'd really like to a movie based on Wells work that doesn't suck. That kind of counts as a remake, right?

I never read the Time Machine but I enjoyed the Guy PEarce Time Machine movie, but from what I heard it deviated from the source quite a bit

A remake of the Wizard of Oz that is closer to the book.

Day of the Triffids that is closer to the book.

a remake i would LOVE to see is Christine but more like the book. don't get me wrong, i really like the carpenter version but as a person who read the book twice i think a remake of it would be sweet. just think of the fx that could be done on making Christine rebuild herself. oh and in the book Christine was actually possessed by her original owner who dies shortly after selling the car. and in the book Christine has to be moving in order to regenerate (in the movie you see the odometer runs backwards as it did in the book but she could repair herself when sitting still) and the first thing that was damaged was the last thing to be fixed. of course it will be harder to find 58 Plymouths in 2008 than it was in 1982 :csad:.

i'd love to see a chronologically accurate (ie: acknowledging that the johnny's been around since the 80's) sequel with johnny5 in the near future, when advanced robots and AI are commonplace, and he's just another outdated robot, who no one believes is really alive.

i don't have anything other than that, though. i think it could make for a good premise.

spielberg's 'war of the worlds' was pretty universally accepted, and 'the island of dr. moreau' was pretty good, i thought.

and maybe i'm in the minority, but i loved 'the time machine'.

agreed. i really didn't like the movie, but generally liked the book.

i love to see an adaptation of that book done right... with a proper ending like in the book. the movie is just nearly impossible to follow if you've never read the novel.

Might not be a bad idea, but today it'd probably more "hip hop'd" than anything.

As if the original wasn't playing towards an urban demographic with its choice in look and music. :whatever:

I wouldn't want a remake but I would like to see back to the Futuer part 4
I aso would like remake of grand tour-:daister in time. its about these people who go through time looking at dasiter that happed in the past. one of the jack goes back in time and stop it. its old scifi movie. I got it on dvd.

How about a remake to Explorers while we're at it?

i pray to god, that a lot of people in this thread never ever gets jobs in the movie industry

'Groundhog Day' - I'd like to see a remake of this with Steve Carell, I can imagine him being in so many other Comedy-Remakes.

G-Day is one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. I really dont want to see it remade.

Southland Tales should be remade. Great premise and concept, poor execution.
