Remakes are good if done right. With each new generation the expecations from new films are raised higher and higher. While we all love the originals the new generations are growing up without them, and while they can buy them on DVD some are only fun to watch for historical significance. Like watching the 1933 King Kong, or the original Scarface. It's not like they're remaking these films scene for scene. They're updating them, and attempting to improve on them if possible. Sometimes it works...sometimes it doesn't. It's not like all "non-remakes" are great films. I'd rather see a remake of Fantastic Voyage then watch another original Steven Segal mess. Also sometimes the original film's story and production years ago was limited to the film technology of it's time. Imagine the Incredible Shriking man if given a big budget today. That's why I'm so excited to see Fantastic Voyage and yes even Ant-Man. I love that stuff.
