Remember the first time you used the internet?

The first time i went online. I went to mister Rogers site

I don't think I used the internet to surf the web til like the early 2000s. Used it to play Tides of Darkness to my earliest memory of it. And the first Quake.

Well, before the 'net really became accessible to the general public, I was happily poking around on local and not-so-local BB systems via modem on my old x386 machines that only had monochrome green or amber monitors and displayed ASCII characters rather than graphics. Then it was through the VAX/VMS mainframes at college around '89 or so that I first started getting online. Usenet was about the only thing worth a damn at that time, along with IRC.

But, but...it didn't exist then   :D

Important separate networks that offered gateways into, then later merged into the NSFNet include Usenet, Bitnet and the various commercial and educational X.25 Compuserve and JANET. Telenet (later called Sprintnet), was a large privately-funded national computer network with free dialup access in cities throughout the U.S. that had been in operation since the 1970s.

The first TCP/IP wide area network was operational by 1 January 1983.

Actually, I didn't get on the internet until 1995.

I wanted to visit Clive Barker' web site. I had to go to my aunt's aparment and she set me up,I had no idea what I was doing. Just happy as hell to have access to grande info on my idol. :D

Hmm,I think the year was 1996 or '97.
Clive had did a book tour in '96 and was giving out the site.

I remember the very first think I searched for was fake nude pictures of Gillian Anderson.

It was 1989. I was in Grammar School. We were talking to kids in Japan via our teacher typing. One of my classmates who was whitetrash, told the teacher to ask "What is a gook?", and he did just that out of ignorance.

That question got no response.

It was in 1998 in school and the first thing I searched for was WWF/E's website. It was different then, not as it is now. Yahoo search was what everyone was mainly using at the time.

1994... back then it was called the world wide web... we just got a computer and we got AOL..... i remember my first time in a chatroom... weird.. I typed something but forgot to hit the send button.

Freaked out and logged off.

That should be 1996, I was 8. I was looking for The Lost Vikings II cheat codes.

I was never the same again.
