The best possible reparations that could be offered to Black Americans and all Americans is an opportunity at an excellent education. Disparity in the public school systems exists because of the way public schools are funded. There should be less reliance on local property taxes (meaning, properties in poor neighborhoods pay fewer taxes, therefore offering less support for their local schools) and more federal funding with an equitable distribution of funds.

Kids have no control over the families they are born in to, whether rich or poor. And in this country, they shouldn't be penalized for having parents who are less affluent than others. Every single American child should have an equal opportunity at public education.

I don't think the government would be capable of paying the right amount of reparations. Also determining who is rightfully entitled seems improbable .

I'm no racist but the whole concept makes me furious. I'm of Cherokee indian descent, among many other cultural backgrounds, and why dont I get any dough for my ancestors being on the trail of tears? Why don't i get any scratch for my Italian (pronounced eye-talian) ancestors being abused by their employers when they immigrated to this country? Or my Irish ancestors?

180 years after the Iraq war, are Iraqis going to get dough for the iraq war?
