Horror Resident Evil Reboot

I thought Glen Powell was Wesker in Welcome to Raccoon City for some reason but it's just a guy who looks a bit similar (in my mind at least).

They really messed the bed by trying to speed run RE1, RE2 and RE3 (the destruction of Raccoon City) in one 100 minute movie just a few years ago. It sucks because those would be good places to start and they probably wont because of the recent failure. RE4 would be cool but I feel like it benefits from having established Leon before. 5 and 6 are also very tied into previous events. You probably could do RE7 and then RE8 if you wanted to (though 8 feels doubtful considering the budget this will most likely have), only issue is RE7 isn't very Resident Evil-like at all and that might be an issue for some. However you could do that film in a lower budget range probably and if done right it could be great.

As always, take it with some salt.

That’s exciting news; I really dug The Barbarian so hopefully this turns out decent. I’m curious if this new reboot(if it does happen) will have the game’s characters take center lead like the last reboot did or will they use entirely original characters like Paul W.S. Anderson films did (with the game characters in supporting roles?). Either way, here’s hoping the movie is good.

Really enjoyed Barbarian so Creggers sound this would be exciting. Just hope it's faithful to the games but good at the same time.

Their going round in circles with this franchise. The director says something like ''we're going back to the games'' etc. just like they said about the last one.

It was easy thing to say compared to what came before. :o

So much for that Welcome to Raccoon City sequel trash they talked up for a while.

We'll see what happens here. I don't know how Cregger finishes his next movie due out in less than a year AND starts shooting by the summer and starts prepping this film for a September 2026 release. I highly doubt they can make that release date. Has he even finished the script on this yet? Not to mention, this is a much higher-budget film than anything he's ever done before.

Weapons has been finished for months now, one of the first test screenings took place in November. My bet is Resident evil is being streamlined by him, so I don’t doubt it’ll make its release date.

If they're still doing test screenings then it's still in post-production and they're still finishing it. Many films in testing are not yet finished and haven't been fully completed.

Warners Bros distribution led by Jeff Goldstein has taken the pressure off the schedule in that regard, and even placed a potential tentpole into the year, that being Zach Cregger’s highly anticipated genre movie Weapons on Aug 8.

Hmm I wonder who he would play. I could see either Lucas Baker or Steve Burnside.
Only a small rumor, but I saw someone say it supposedly could be an adaptation of Resident Evil: Zero. If that’s the case, he could be playing Billy Coen, a former soldier on death row who reluctantly tags along with Rebecca Chambers, the main protagonist.

If he did do RE0, that would be a great choice, because it takes place first chronologically in the timeline, he can start from scratch and establish a fresh continuity, not be hampered by what the previous film adaptations did and do something a little different and little more smaller scale.

If not that, in a recent stream, he did with some friends, he mentioned that his favorites are RE2 and RE4, followed closely by RE7 (shocker!). So, going by that metric, we should expect a film somewhere along those lines.

It’s anyone’s guess at this point.

They should follow the games and never mention Billy in the sequels. :o
