Horror Resident Evil Reboot

I could see them going one of a few ways:

1) Do RE1 as a prologue to the rest of the movie’s RE2, ala The Incredible Hulk 2008.

2) Do both stories concurrently, switching back and forth between the two throughout.

3) Have RE2 as the main story and RE1 as flashbacks.

4) Something that’s kind of an amalgam of the two stories that honors the originals but also does some new things.

I’m leaning more towards 1, 3 or 4. With options one or three, you have the background of the 1st game but still keep RE2 as the focus. Option three would be way too much to tell in one movie. Option four is also another possibility, where they could take the framework of the RE2 but inject certain elements from RE1, like events, monsters and characters.

At this point, it’s kind of hard to tell which direction they’re going.

Speaking as someone who vastly prefers the first game as a story, those options mainly sound like ass to me. :funny:

The direction said he wanted to go back to the first two games. I don't know that anything was said about combining the storylines, which is a subtle distinction but possibly an important one.

Well good. In that case, I hope I misheard and that they're not actually going to do that.

I'm not sure how well that will work. RE2 is a pretty massive story on its own.

Didn't they say they were combining the storylines of the first and second games?

I don't know how that's even possible. How do you turn RE1&2 into a single cohesive story? Even RE2&3, those stories happen very close together, almost concurrently in the games, and even then I think combining them into a single movie story would be rather problematic. I think the only way around it is if you have completely change it around and have Jill's story ultimately collide with Leon and Claire's.

I don't think you can combine R1&2 into one movie unless you take enormous liberties, and then, I'm not sure how you are going to make a more satisfying, faithful story to the games.

Maybe we could finally see a Jill and Claire team up. Weird how those two never met each other in the games. Meanwhile Chris has already met Leon, Ada and Sherry in the games.

I wonder if Rebecca, Sherry, Ada and Barry are going to appear as well.

I have an odd thing with the second film. For a long time I really hated it. And then I re-watched it again a few years back, and I thought to myself that it actually wasn't that bad. Then I watched it again a few weeks back, and holy hell it was even worse than I originally thought. It's been a strange journey.

Those set pics are quite encouraging. Fingers crossed that it's not a hot mess like the others.

If they would have took Alice out of Apocalypse I definitely think it would have went over better. I can still enjoy that movie for the set pieces and the great pacing, but Jill Valentine should have been the lead of that movie along with Carlos. Those two were always my favorite characters to come out of that movie and it disappointed me bigtime when they did nothing else with them in the sequels.

Such a waste of perfect casting IMO.

Those films were just an excuse for Paul W.S. Anderson to have a vehicle to put his wife into and have her be a stoic Mary Sue character and do crazy, bada** s**t. That’s all it was. The Resident Evil name was just for brand recognition. If it was anything else, he would have done the exact same thing.

At least Len Wiseman had the decency to make Kate Beckinsale a somewhat flawed, fleshed out character in the Underworld movies.

EDIT: Corrected Jovovich’s marital status. My bad.

They got divorced?

Welp. Yeah, I was wrong on that part. Could’ve sworn I read about that somewhere in the past. My bad.

Rest of my point still stands, though.

Well she was married to Luc Besson before Anderson, and she and Besson did split up. So that might've been what you are thinking of.

I admit when I saw set photos of one of the past sequels showing Leon and Barry I got a little excited.

She's had her share of producers and directors lol.

I wonder who the big bad tyrant will be. Will they go for a generic tyrant , mr.x or the ever popular nemesis . I’m honestly betting on nemesis since he’s so well known
