Horror Resident Evil Reboot

Hopefully the rumors are true that Konami is working on HD rereleases of Silent Hill, Metal Gear and Castlevania are true. Supposedly these rerelease are to lead to new games in the series. Konami has been crap lately but this could put them back in the good graces of the fans
I liked the Silent Hill movie and thought it was decent. I still think there is a huge amount of potential about a small town that represents your inner hellscape turning it into reality.

What's Silent Hill? Castlevania, Yu-Gi-Oh, and Contra are the only things Konami cares about.
I feel obliged to remind everyone here of Pro Evolution Soccer/Winning Eleven and pachinko.

That last thing..

Which Castlevania? I certainly hope not the crappy N64 stuff, those need an overhaul to make them playable.

The GBA collection is coming out.

The first Resident Evil (reboot) movie should've been a survival horror mystery film. Jill should've been our protagonist, and we should've followed her journey through the estate as she/we uncovered the mystery behind this creepy ass mansion. IMO that is the proper way to reintroduce audiences to the franchise.

You could almost treat it as a coming of age story (for Jill), as the events of the film change her. With elements of B-movie horror, and more than enough monsters for some crazy fun (& scary) set pieces (Lisa Trevor, Plant 42, Tyrant/Wesker), THAT'S your reboot movie.

Leave Birkin, G, Mr. X, Leon & Claire for the sequel, where they can be properly fleshed out. The story of William Birkin can support an entire film on it's own, and it deserves it's own film.

This is the proper way to do it, but you know Hollywood - they just love to bite off more than they can chew.

It reminds me of Hellboy (2019), in many ways. It really doesn't feel like there's a strong vision here, a strong sense of direction for what the movie should be.

And even aside from that, the movie just doesn't look great. Everything looks sooo cheap, even the basic costumes look like the high-end of something from Party City lol

Why is Jill wearing a maintenance man uniform?

I know the Claire actress from Skins and she is a million miles away from what I would expect. The multiple gormless expressions in the trailer only hit that feeling home because that's not Claire.

Claire isn't hard to do but can be wonderful all the same if done right. A CW level actress could of even fit the bill.

That being said, as a lifelong fan of the series, I'm gonna be there opening night :funny: and hope they pull this off

That's a good choice. Thanks Lily. :yay:

I'll count the minuscule blessings we have and say it could have been worse, like an Asylum cheap movie worse. :oldrazz:

I admire that you still have hope for this because my hope was pretty much flushed down the toilet when I realized this is still being made by the same company(Constantin) that did the Paul W.S. Anderson movies.

Not to mention you have to consider the red flag of releasing a first trailer a month before the movie releases and it still looks as cheap as this..it normally doesn’t portend good things. All I can say is just keep your expectations astronomically low.

God help me, but I'm more excited for it now than I was before the trailer came out.

I'm not expecting a masterpiece, but at the very least it looks like it could be fun.

Remembering most video game adaptations...anticipation went down.

Seeing those sneak peek pics...anticipation went down.

Seeing the US trailer...anticipation went down.

Seeing the international trailer...anticipation went up...a tiny bit.

I'm going to catch it, i hope it's good.
The international trailer made a touch more excited.
Wow, a song choice (and a song I usually enjoy) can really bring down my feels for the film.

Me seeing that video above in what looks like Chris confronting final form of Billy G as the director says this movie is faithful to the games leaves me with: "Doesn't look faithful to me"

Kinda disappointed that Hopper is playing Wesker and not Chris. If this is successful, I’d much rather see a franchise with Hopper as a key player than That Other Amell Guy. Though I suppose Wesker could be a juicier role and perhaps he survives this episode.

Also, Hopper has that boulder punching look, you know...

I'm glad I finished playing the 2 and 3 remakes for the first time the day before the trailer came out earlier, just so I really know how much like cheap cosplay this looks. :o

I think both RE and Uncharted movies do the same thing. They cram several games into a single movie, bring actors who look nothing like in the source that they adapt and hope for the best. The only difference - one has budget and the other doesn't.

That video actually annoyed me a bit.

We love and cherish the games so much, and have put in so much attention to detail to honour them, that we made two of the lead characters look absolutely nothing like their source material counterparts! :applaud
