As you probably know "The One Above All" and the "External Forces" are the most powerful beings in Marvel and DC.
Here is Presence himself confirming that there are external forces suprior even to him. -- These are refered to the "External Forces"

Now these wo omnipotent beings are the supreme of their respective Multi-verse's.
In the 1996 a four issued series, named the DC vs Marvel series was released.

Futuring the supreme beings of DC and Marvel, these beings will later be refered to as the Brothers.

It all beings here ... Spectre and the Living Tribunal second only to God in their respective universe (or in this case Multiverse) sense powers so which its liking have never been witnessed.

These new powers that Spectre and LT sense are sentient beings that are called "The Brothers". They make up all that is, was, or will ever be in all of Marvel/DC, and for the first time in all of eternity, these beings have become aware of eachothers existance.

After these Brothers become aware of each other, they feel threatened by the others presence, so they make a wager. They will pit they greatest beings from each realm (Marvel and DC) against eachother by placing portals between these places on earth, and whatever realm looses will be wiped from existance.

After battles between the greatest heroes and villians in Marvel and DC occur, they fuse, the two most powerful etitnies in all fiction merges and become one truley omnipotent being, since they are all past, presence and future, their universes merges as well.
