Restart Anyone?

I saw it last summer, and actually thought it was a pretty good film. I couldn't say the same for Punisher or Daredevil (Thomas Jane was a good Punisher, but the rest of the film sucked, and even the Daredevil: Directors Cut did nothing for me.)

Ghost Rider was enjoyable, thanks to Peter Fonda and Nic Cage. I would like to see them again in a sequel.

The only thing I liked about the film was Sam Elliot. It's like they were trying to make it too lighthearted and comical when it should've been darker, in the same vein as Blade. I thought Peter Fonda was good, but wasn't crazy about the way they wrote Mephisto. Blackheart and his gang were total s--t however.

The movie was popular, and made a bunch of money. You dont like it, go cry about it. Sequel is happening, restart is not.

Just b/c the movie was popular doesn't mean ppl liked it. Godzilla made a huge wad o cash back in 98 but ppl couldn't stand it.

Instead of a sequel to a flawed product, how about a restart?
Looking at how Marvel operates nowadays, this is far from a ridiculous proposal, even as recent as it is, just look at this Punisher restart, and Hulk restart, not even a decade after the originals came out.

If Marvel got their hands on it, and treated it with the care that seems to be going into the rehash of the Hulk, and of the Iron Man movie, fans of Ghost Rider could have something they'd be proud of, and not something that had to grow on them, and is hardly tolerable.

Or do you find the nature of the character, and it's marketability will have it on the backburner for a long time anyways?

totally agree with you bud.
why would they restart it? maybe if the sequel wasn't going to be made for another 10 yrs. then yah, i totally see a restart.

and it did make a lot of money

I refer you to the post I made three posts earlier.

Maybe they should watch GR 1 and find out what went seriously wrong and then fix it fr the sequel instead of restarting...

Well that's just the thing. The best way to solve the first film's problems would probably be to do a reboot.

I would love a reboot and would wait another 10 years so long as it's under a competent team who really knows how to make a blockbuster hit with mind blowing action, cutting edge special effects, and a top notch story and screenplay. Something to really do the character justice.

Thing is, I hate inconsistency.
If I've got a trilogy, or whatever, yet the first film is trash, or at least in comparison to the sequels it has a different vibe about it... It kind of messes up the collection.
Plus you'll always feel like you don't have a proper beginning.

I love Batman Begins, but all this restart craze it created is annoying as hell...

Why? It's getting the job done.
Every subforum here wants restarts of their franchises...
''Ratner ****ed-up! We need a restart!''
''OMFG! Raimi is gay! We need a reboot with a true version of Venom!''
''Hulk needs a restart...and is actually getting one!''
''How about a new version of Daredevil that ignores the first one?''
It's as if filmmakers have nothing else to do but to create endless movie series with the same old characters just because someone else didn't get it quite right a few years earlier :whatever:

They better pull a Punisher or Hulk on this one. I really don't understand why this Movie is liked by so many. The only good thing about this was the fact that it had Ghost Rider. The cast, the villains, the plot, the dialogue, simply everything other than Ghost Rider was pure and utter crap.

Because as far as comic continuity is concerned, this is arguably the best Marvel film yet. And Ghost Rider himself was awesome.

Sure it can be said that it further cheapens Hollywood, but she's been a dirty old ****e for a while now.
There hasn't been one comic movie that was flawless.
But there have been some that have been downright awful.
Personally I'd include Ghost Rider in that mix.
Growing up, I always wanted to see my favourite heros in live action films. Lots of people did, and when our favourite characters come out in a terrible movie, or are just misrepresented that its not to hard to imagine that sometimes we rather just forget it ever happened.
We've lived many adventures with these characters and grown fond of them, movies are the ultimate medium, we want long ruining great franchises!

Be it as it may, it certainly wasn't the best quality Marvel film to date.

How about don't make another one period? Will anyone honestly care?

I'm sure some huge fans of the character might.
It be fun to see a good GR movie, but with all the comic book movies coming up it'll hold me over.

I dont know why Marvel just doesn't release an animated movie (that doesn't hold itself back, and is true, gritty, and dark like the Garth Ennis stories and early Mackie stories) and also have a sequel to MSJ's Ghost Rider movie.

Since direct to DVD animated movies typically don't generate huge sales, they can use the DVD to promote the sequel. Its a win-win situation for fans of Ghost Rider.
