Which to me doesn't make much sense. I don't understand why Fox wouldn't try to capitalize on the Alien brand name if they ARE connected. .

a PG13 Alien sounds bad
a PG13 original scifi movie doesnt sound bad.

:woot:

That's definitely true, but I don't know that the general audience would care too much if a new Alien was PG-13 or R.

Don't worry, Aint It Cool News confirmed the concepts to be NOT from Prometheus.

By the way, Sky News described the Space Jockey as an 8 foot tall animatronic. When is the last time we've seen a movie do an animatronic? I'm very excited about this! But the weirdest thing is it's 8 feet tall. Wasn't the Jockey much larger than that? Maybe they're do force perspective or do the reverse-hobbit effect via Lord of the Rings.

Yeah, looks larger than 12 feet. I mean, hell, it's 10 1/2 feet tall sitting down.

Eh, I dunno about that. But I bet you I'm taller then most on these boards....there could be tall and shorter ones it's not some kind of stretch to have multiple heights. That and using Ridley's kids to create it's size more so. On the close ups with Dallas and Lambert looking at it, I could see it being 8-12 feet tall.

That's true, but I'm thinking of it in terms of average height. It's not like the size is going detriment the film for me, but the massiveness we've come to see should be present for continuity sake.

Well I still don't think it's over 12 feet. It is sitting down. And the forced perspective shot is making it harder to tell what the proportion is suppose to be in the wide shots. Looking at that Dallas in that shot to me I could see it easily being 12 feet tall. Not bigger. It's hard to tell, and none of it has been canonized and we don't know what the bottom half of these creatures look like. So it is fair game I would assume. But I'm sure they will make them look even bigger like you said. But I don't or never have thought of them any bigger then the Queen which was suppose to be around 12 feet or so.

HR Giger: it's going to be huge

Swiss newspaper Blick had a chance to talk to Alien designer HR Giger about his involvement in Prometheus.
"Ridley Scott and I met in London to discuss the details of the project" confirms Giger. "It was a warm reunion after such a long time."
According to the newspaper, Giger has been busy working in his studio in Zurich on the latest creatures for Prometheus. Unfortunately he's bound by contract to not give away any details.
"It's going to be huge. I can not tell what I'm doing exactly"
He does however confirm that Prometheus will take part in the same universe as the Alien series.

Giger won an Oscar in 1980 for his work on Alien, and the Swiss newspaper asks him if he's hoping for his second Oscar this time.
"We'll see what the future brings. I did my work but never in terms of awards, otherwise I would have had to adjust."

For some reason, I always expected Giger to resemble Alan Moore.

Shaping up nicely. Expect a lot of news in the next few weeks, followed by silence. The anticipation ...

"All you have to do is imagine how it might look if it were to mix DNA with another alien species… and I think we’re starting to work it all out."

Dude Space-Jockey Alien Beast = potentially crazy

It makes a lot of sense. I'm all for this--always wanted to see a xenomorph crossed with something that's very different. They don't have to call it a prequel; it may not lead into the franchise we know and love. It can just be another story within the same universe featuring the xenomorph. That does not make it a prequel.

I'm already stroking my Blu-ray player, whispering into its usb that it's going to be one lucky bi**h.

A great way to reinvent the alien!

if it will happen before ALien(79) and if the story will have a connection to Alien(79) then it is a prequel.

i dotn think they want to make a horror movie.

I can't wait to see what it looks like. It's a great idea, and something that makes sense.

Idris Elba Joins Ridley Scott's Prometheus

It appears that CBM favourite Elba has joined the already very impressive cast of Ridley Scott's (kinda sorta) Alien prequel along with two other actors, Sean Harris and Kate Dickie..

Daily Mail Uk reports that three British actors; Idris Elba Sean Harris and Kate Dickie—have joined Ridley Scott's Prometheus in unknown roles.

Elba will be best known to CBMers as playing Roque is The Losers as well as Heimdell in Marvel's upcoming Thor of course. Harris you may recognize from Harry Brown with Michael Caine, or from the original Red Riding trilogy with Andrew Garfield. Scottish actress Dickie will most likely not be well known to US readers but she starred in the bleakly brilliant Red Road in the UK.

The Mail also have some quotes from Director Scott, who hints that any supposed leaked script details may well be premature..

I was insistent that the script not leak onto the internet, where it gets dissected out of context, which spoils it for everyone..

‘It’s the story of creation, the gods and the man who stood against them. It’s not a small film.’

Last quote from Ridley is very exciting, it’s the story of creation, the gods and the man who stood against them :woot:

Sweet I like Idris Elba so glad to see him on board. This is gonna be epic.

I like this news.

Filming in three weeks! Whoa, I didn't think it would be that soon. I have a feeling we aren't going to be seeing anything from this.
