Riots in Missouri - Part 1

Yeah depending on the verdict this could end up being this generations L.A. Riots. Lots of injuries and deaths. Gun sales in one town in the area have risen exponentially in the past few weeks. The owner of one store said he'd never moved guns like this before and that people who were absolutely anti gun had even been asking about them because they are terrified of what's gonna happen if this verdict is not guilty and feel that a gun may be their only means of protection when all he'll breaks loose.

sure helped protect her

With this delay you already know what the verdict was. They're scared as **** to announce it.

I'm not one for rioting but do you think in this instance it's something worth fighting and rioting over?

So are the networks going to cut into the middle of primetime programming to air the press conference?

Getting potentially killed by cops (many of whom are bloodthirsty and looking for any excuse to get violent) for destroying property and/or looting isn't going to solve anything.

That's not biased in the least :whatever:

I fail to see how property destruction and injuring others honors a lost life, regardless of the circumstance.

Eh, whatever. It's common sense truth.

To clarify: the part you bolded is about cops in general not specifically the cops in Ferguson. Though no reasonable person would take the chance...

It totally IMO depend on the truth. NOT worth fighting over if the truth is true (How else can I say this)

If you ask me, I believe it WILL be the truth!

SO many delusional protestors think that if it sides with the police, it must not be the truth, regardless of the evidences.

This is probably the most ignorant thing I have ever read.

You definitely need to do more reading.

wrong, the cops were there due to a gun report so they were on edge and a 12 year old can kill a cop just like a grownup

and that kid DID not put up his hands but instead went for the 'gun' which the cop didn't know was fake

I dunno about that...

The other problem is, that you need to keep these constant streams of stories in context with one another, because that's what helps create the narrative.

The unarmed black man who was shot and killed in Brooklyn, coming down a dark staircase was shot by a rookie cop...whom nobody seems to even understand why he even had his gun out in the first place, because there was no crime occurring.

And this happens months after a guy was choked to death by the NYPD.

The amount of coverage Cnn and MSNBC give this makes you think it is almost a presidental election

I think the Governor made things waaaaaaay worse by effectively telling everyone, something really really really bad is going to happen with his declaration of a state of emergency before anything was even announced.

Whatever the decision is tonight, I personally HOPE to TRUST that it is the truth. I will NOT be like "That is a lie, screw that, they fake everything"

I just hope all the protests are peaceful. I understand the outrage that will come if they don't prosecute but there really doesn't need to be anymore loss of life.

No, I can't say I understand the outrage at all. A group of people in this country simply have no faith in the justice system no matter what, does NOT prove that it is really that corrupt as they think though.

Is OUR justice system really that corrupt?

Really? Not even a little bit? Even with other cases seemingly running concurrently with others, like Eric Garner and the guy who got shot in Brooklyn for no reason?

I mean, I wouldn't say that there's reason to get violent...but I can certainly understand the sentiments that lead to the outrage.

And I don't know if the outrage is so much that the system is corrupt as much as it is broken.

You're missing the point. Regardless of the outcome a teenager is dead. It doesn't matter if he was a saint or not, there was no justification for all the shots fired at an unarmed person. There's no bringing him back but the next best thing is justice. That's all people want. I never truly had a problem with our justice system here in America. It's not perfect, but after what I saw in the George Zimmerman case, I lost all faith.

I agree. I really think that the police and the state has mishandled things so badly, that they've really set the table for something horrible to happen.

But, I'm with you. I just hope that all of this doesn't lead to anymore loss of life. Hopefully things won't get bad enough for violence to break out.

But, man...I have no idea what the hell Governor Nixon was thinking.

USA Today tweeted that Mike Brown's family have been notified that no charges will be pressed against the officer.
