The Rise of Skywalker Rise of Skywalker Leaks and Spoilers thread

Not to mention ROTS gives us the best opening to a Star Wars movie ever with the calm before the storm space battle.

I'm kind of confused on who said what. So you're referring to the spoiler that Kylo goes to the wayfinder location and sees a bunch of Snoke clones?

I've read different things, in the current revised script summary on Reddit it's saying that Palpy basically talks about Snoke in dialogue so that scene may be cut or something else.

The basic plot of how everything plays out is there, so I don't think there's much to be debunked. It's just a question of what scenes are cut and what scenes made it. They definitely cut the part about Vader killing Palpy's clone while he was safe in hiding, and they cut the stuff about the dyad, which was part of JJ's original cut, so I'm guessing they cut anything about clones being in this script completely, and I hope that's the case. Leaving a bit of mystery to how Palpy survived and who Snoke was and how he came to control him is probably for the best.

I don't know who leaked what, or who's saying what on YT or social media, as I don't follow that stuff. I just look at what is being said here. I don't venture out that far. So you're gonna have to be more specific. :hehe:

This is what I was referring to. MSW's spoilers about what was in Colin's original script, him deb it, now calling the leaks as a whole that came from MSW into question.

Yeah. I'm not as hard on the sequel trilogy as others are, but if it has one major shortcoming (beyond recycled ideas), it's the lack of compelling characters outside of the legacy ones. We are two movies in and I barely give a **** about Poe and Finn. The only reason I care about Rey at all is because she's the main hero character and is therefore given most of the focus. So it's one of those situations where I care about a character because I kinda HAVE to. The only new character that I have genuinely enjoyed so far is Kylo Ren. Outside of Kylo, my enjoyment of the sequel trilogy has rested almost entirely on the shoulders of Han, Luke, and Leia. And they're all dead now.

I'm pretty much in the same boat of enjoying seeing the Trilogy characters. My opinion of the Sequel trilogy is a mixed in terms of characters and story elements. I felt that there were certainly some interesting new characters such as Rey, Finn, Poe, Phasma, from the jump ,though I did feel TFA was too similar to ANH.

That said, I felt there was potential going forward to tell a new story without repeating or paying homage to bits in the other films.

I found quite a few of the concepts of TLJ interesting such as Luke's feelings toward the Jedi, Poe's decisions which led to his grounding, Kylo having to come into his own identity and Rey potentially turning to the darkisde.

For me, however , both films were cases of missed opportunities in terms of the characters and the execution of ideas that they, i.e. the filmmakers, brought to the table. I felt the ideas were there, but ideas those elements is where they struggled imo. So I come at the ST from that angle as opposed to the "this is a betrayal to SW!" angle.

So while I found new characters like Rey interesting in concept, and while I was intrigued by what could have caused Luke to become more cynical, in execution, neither film really lived up to the potential of the interesting ideas for me.

I'd still recommend both films to someone who isn't a polarized fan on either side of SW Fandom. If I graded both i'd give TFA a B+ and TLJ a B or B-. I know that's probably considered outrageous by alot of fans and detractors of both films , but that's where they'd fall with me.

I would have loved to have seen Trevorrow’s script ideas and story beats. One thing that was reported that was Luke gets to have a happy ending and had a larger role than the crap that happened in TLJ. That would have been really exciting to see.

I love the opening of RotS. Even with all it's cheese and awkward line delivery (its so patched together), it still really works imo. But while it is action packed, I wouldn't list it as the best Star Wars movie opening. I am not sure I'd put it in the top 3. You have Star Wars, Empire, TFA and Solo. Then it is a toss up between RotS and TPM for me.

Well, I will credit Jason Ward because his website has reported a lot of accurate information in the past.

But just this story in particular, if you're going to report something like this as a major exclusive or scoop maybe try a little due diligence and make sure all these details are correct.

Dude's a dick. Like legitimately. If he was just a little bit not a complete jerk, he'd get some sympathy. Also he has spent this spoiler cycle riding off the wave of someone else. Even as he calls himself a member of the Holy Trinity of spoilers. Yeah, he said that.

I mean...with that, I'm not sure it's something to take pride in.

I remember he was wayyy off with the Ach-To stuff in TLJ.

I think a decent chunk of the fandom as a whole is hoping for some of these leaks to be debunked.

There's a user on reddit named mando-ops who is saying he has a small role in production, doesn't know everything but mostly knows what's wrong that's out on the internet.

He says Palpatine isn't shown in the movie aside from voice, side angles and behind shots. He said the Palpatine image that leaked that Disney took down was fake, but the Rey Kylo one with the blue lightstabers was real.

Confirms Kylo falls into the pit and can't catch himself because all his energy is gone because he healed Rey.

No deep explanations of the Sith artifacts.

Who knows if any of it is real but at least it's something to talk about.

Not showing Palpatine would be...Ridiculous. I really don't like that. Hope that's not true.
That would be surprising but I can also see it happening. With that rating spoiler going around that a character has fangs, I think I'd rather take a side angle than see that. :funny:

There is absolutely no way they aren't showing Palpy unless J.J. just wants to piss people off further which I really don't think he does

If true Abrams probably thought it would be like when a horror movie doesnt clearly show the monster/demon because the viewer's imagination enhances the horror of what isnt shown. But it will probably just come across like they couldnt get the original actor for the role so they had to shoot around another actor so viewers wouldnt see that Ian wasnt playing Sidious.

Honestly, it seems like the sort of dumb thing that will probably turn out to be true.

I dont know, would have to see it first to get a feeling for it.
But yeah its on paper not the best idea to bring back palpatine and not show him fully.
Force ghost or so i can understand, but still...you cant half ass such things.
Either you let it go completely or do it fully.

But then he could be a strong force presence without a body...you can do that with how the force works, but it wouldnt be the same.

You are in a tough spot either way, people dont want this or that.
Look at Snoke, people wanted him to be more but when it turns out he wasnt...people were upset too.
Its damned if you do and damned if you dont do.

All indications are he is shown. I mean if you read the spoilers, there are just way too many scenes where he is having a conversation, that I can't imagine not showing his face. I mean they pulled it off on this week's Watchmen, but that is a very different beast.

Huge new update to the script leak from you know where. dont read at all if you don't want to know, but i must say, this sounds damn good. The ending is what ill describe.

  • Apparently Palpatine does in fact Ben into the ravine, claiming he is the last in the Skywalker line.

  • Rey hears voices such as "Yoda, Luke, Leia, Mace Windu, and others" who give her the strength to stand up. Palpatine tries to lightning her but she blocks it with one of the sabers but it seemingly stalemates them. She then finds the strength to pull the other saber to her making an X formation and this allows her to deflect the lightning back toward him.

  • Palpatine apparently disintegrates and explodes, causing the arena to crumble (This is where new information comes into the picture) but also killing Rey. Ben apparently climbs out of the pit finding a dead Rey and decides to give his life for her. He uses the healing trick to save Rey but draining his life force in the process. Then "there’s a weird fanfic moment where they kiss, and he dies."

Okay, so the first spoiler was Kylo defeats the Knights of Ren using only the force and now he gets his ass kicked and Rey has to force UPS him a lightsaber?

I can't at this point.

The way Palpatine "survived" sounds horrifying in the best way possible.
