What kind of overly cynical crowd did you have in your theater?

Might have been the same crowd at my theater because both times I've seen this trailer in theaters with a packed crowd, the word "stupid" was heard quite often after it finished playing. I think it looks stupid as well, but at least it looks fun to watch.

Original Planet of the Apes space ship name will make a cameo

I received my issue of SCI/FI magazine yesterday. It was 99% wasteful but there was one good article about RISE OF THE APES and the gem of the article says that news reports will be shown on TV covering the launch of the ICARUS-Taylor's ship that will be thrown into the far future.

It's very exciting that they respect the orginal property enough to include this and gives me hope the movie will be good.

It does beg the question though that the Icarus was shown to have launched in 1972 in the orginal movie as opposed to 40 years later. It also sets up a situation like when HALLOWEEN H20 decannonized films 4, 5 and 6 only counting the original HALLOWEEN and HALLOWEEN 2. Basically this would strike APES 2-5 out of continuity.

Still I'm glad about the ICARUS and hope we get a good shot of it...maybe attached to solid rocket boosters like the shuttle lifting off on the mission to prove Dr. Hasslein's time travel theory.

Green Lantern had good trailers?

The first trailer for GL was horrible. The later trailers were better, but you could still see some crappy cgi.

The trailers for this movie have been very good. However, as you said, it doesn't necessarily reflect the quality of the movie. But compared to GL, this looks so much better atleast CGI wise.

I wrote wrong, I meant decent rather than good. Thanks to Green Lantern, I'm a bit cautious towards movie, I'm uncertain about.

And of course the CGI in this movie looks better than GL, it's freakin WETA.

ya know, when myself and those I know first heard about this, the first instict was to bash it, but after seeing the trailer, everything looks good about it. My friends and I are eager to see it.

LOL, poor Felton. I think he's a pretty good actor so it will be a shame if he's playing The Many Faces of Draco for the rest of his life.

Anyway, this movie does look pretty decent but I had to laugh when they showed the trailer before Super 8, because they showed it right after the trailer for that stupid Kevin James movie with the talking Gorilla. It just made ROTPOTA look silly because all I could think was, "Annnnnnd another talking Gorilla movie!"

Same thing happened during the X-Men midnight at my theater...and those were all fanboys. People laughed after the trailer and you could hear a lot of snickering. You could hear the sighs and groans because it was monkeys with spears against humans with guns...and we lose???

To me, this movie looks dumb. I will go so see it if it gets good reviews but at this point I don't care.
