you know what i will watch this movie because i need to find out how will Caesar gather all monkeys. will they come from the whole world? how the f... can the monkeys from the zoo take over a city. a city. military,cops,....
it makes no sense to me. so i need to watch this movie to find out. :o:dry:

Keep in mind that a chimp is like 10 times stronger than a man. Image them, mutanted and more intelligent.

but not all of them are smart like Caesar.

Looks good. Calm down dark b so much anger, are you angry WETA did't do the effect for Green Lantern .......uh oh

I'm having problems with the premise now that I'm seeing it play out some.

Just shoot the ****ers, there.

Why does everyone look so scared or constantly at awe. If these things escaped and started breaking necks the national guard would be out in drives and shoot these things into concrete faster than you can say "You damn dirty ape".

I'm really not seeing the threat here.

i mean if this was about apes making trouble in the city for 1 week it would make sense.

I liked the trailer and will see it because of my love for the old installments in the series, Franco, and Pinto, but I got a slight ''The Happening" vibe from the trailer.

Yeah, so unless they all become Batman within a week and somehow over throw humans over global dominion, I'm not buying it.

I'm just having a really hard time seeing any logical way in which they could somehow overtake the entire planet.

Also how are regular chimps and gorillas following the super monkeys? So all other sapiens that haven't been experimented on have also had a deep hidden resentment against humans just planning world domination and waiting for a more "advanced" ape to lead them?

I'm calling shenanigans.

i can accept in an blockbuster that Caesar just manipulates them to attack humans because he is angry. but it doesnt look like this is happening.

I like that you both are thinking about the storyline because I can't be bothered too. The trailer lost me when it wanted me to believe that James Franco is a brilliant scientist.

I'm not saying that he isn't smart in real life but some people just can't play scientists and Franco looks like one of those people.

Yeah it rubbed me off the wrong way.

For some reason it made me completely bypass all the shiny bell and whistles of Fox marketing trying to shove in my face that WETA was working on this. Sure it looks pretty good (although the one part with the Gorilla moving quickly looked like they straight up looked up their King Kong model) but the possible plot issues are more glaring than a massive black hole.

yet you know nothing of the story and already acting like you see a plot hole lol

also people saying why bring up weta well i dont know maybe because every damn ape in this movie is full cgi

As for the complaint of Franco as a scientist, sure his off-screen personality is definitely lacking in that area, but he's a fairly competent actor who I can think pull it off, unlike Tara Reid and Denise Richards who still to me are the worst scientist castings of this decade.

so the purpose of effects is not to hide them in the context of the movie? you need to tell everyone what is CGI and what not? its different with Avatar since we dont have real blue aliens.

Ok, and?

I love WETA but they are obviously being used as a crutch to sell the movie as Fox marketing team gets to put the phrases in the trailer. They are depending on a VFX art house due to its work on Avatar which I may add still had involvement from ILM, Digital Domain, and crud ton of others so the final work was basically more of a team effort, yet Fox still decides to use it.

That IMO doesn't spell to well for the movie. It looks like we may have something I like to call a Fox gloss dud. This happens usually when they get talented names involved but decide to intervene on plot details, title, and put everyone under a rushed schedule and decide to make a "meh to terrible" film that sells purely in this case nostalgia of the older films which is running dry and the work of WETA.

Typical Fox notoriety. I'm watching it because I personally do like what I see in what WETA's done here but we're all arguing that the plot may be erroneously farfetched to the point of complete non believability.

right now if you are not TF and you are using the Inception sound...........you are pathetic.

and how stupid do you have to be to use WETA for promotion?

the trailer is nothing special. we have 1000 similar movies.

Why didn't they just say from the studio that brought you Avatar? They are touting a f**king effects house! That has absolutely nothing to do with the quality of the film. So freakin ******ed on all levels.

Thankyou! The story isn't even remotely original and the least interesting part of the Apes lore was how the Apes took over. It looks like King Kong the Jurassic Park edition at that. I love me some Andy Serkins but unless the movie gets some Source Code style praise there is zero chance that I'm seeing it. The trailer had a few interesting things but Franco already looks miscast and none of the other non CGI creatures look interesting. I think that it will bomb because it looks ridiculous and it's a prequel that nobody was asking for.

I'm happy that somebody thinks this movie looks good...

Completely agree on all points.

I think it looks great from what Ive seen so far. It cant be worse then burton's apes remake. The one thing Im extremely happy about is how there seems to be no time traveling here and simply just having the apes become smarter through experimenting. This is a much more refreshing take then the ussual ape goes back in time and kicks start a revolution. I just hope theres an actual story here and not some style over substance mess.

I think franco can pull of being a scientist, christ he was jus nominated for an oscar about a guy who was trap under a rock the whole movie, if he can pull that off then certainly he can pull off being a scientist.

i give Burton credit for going with make-up and Stan Winston. looked almost real animals.

I suspect that Caesar finds some way to give more apes that serum or whatever over time or they figure out that's how to increase their intelligence.

I do too, the makeup was the best I ever saw but the story and acting were horrendus especially from wahlberg who really wasnt made for that type of role. I would have liked humans in makeup just as much for this movie but I can see why they decided to go with all cgi. I think of this whole process as an evolution in film making, we started with makeup on all the original movies that werent very good then we got a remake with amazing makeup and now the next logical step is all cgi. Im not bashing it because lets face it the age of all makeup and actors in suits for the entire movie are pretty much gone. Its much more cost effective and time effecient for studios to greenlight cgi characters then actual suits.

I actually loved the trailer.

So is this like a reboot of the whole franchise ?

Ahem...

The Planet of the Apes.

That is all. Do you have any other arguments that I can refute by stating the franchise title?
