Obviously whenever WETA does something for Fox they're going to push it, because that's just what they do. After Avatar, that's like their crown jewel of CG.

I think there is plenty of room on this block for both Weta and ILM to live. I think personally all cgi fx should be held to the standard of avatar. agreed on I am legend cgi, the minute I saw the creatures come after will smith I immediately didnt care because they were all fake looking. would have been much better with real actors and could have turned a good movie into a great movie.

I agree the vamps in I Am Legend looked like crap but to compare them to the apes in this trailer is ridiculous. It's like saying a greasy truck stop cheeseburger and a steak from a 4-star restaurant are the same thing because they're both meat.

They both have slight edges over eachother. I don't think Weta handles metal as well as they do organic things, and ILM is the opposite.

Wall E emotes better than the majority of characters in movies and it's basically a pair of eyes.

Fox needs to let the franchise go. The original 1968 film is a sci-fi classic. The sequels were camp delight and did well for the studio and well for the first film because nobody remembers their epic silliness and dumbness. The remake was awful and underperformed. But Fox just couldn't resist going back to the well. We saw last weekend that Franco can't sell a stoner comedy even after Pineapple Express (though I enjoyed Your Highness despite its inherent badness), putting a terribly conceived big budget prequel/reboot on his shoulders was a bad idea.

Oh well.

at WORST,I think this could be#1 or 2 for a week or so the box office then do pretty decent at redbox and sales when it goes at$15-below at stores and used movie at rental stores!
