POTA2001 really isn't as bad as some of you people make it out to be. I thought it was good for what it was. A fun entertaining popcorn movie. Could it have been better? Sure. But I still enjoyed it. It was one of the better movies that summer, imho. There's plenty of things to enjoy. Everything from the make-up, costume design, production design, visual effects, "the hunt" scene, Elfman's score, Bonham Carter's, Roth's, and Giamatti's perfomances, Heston's cameo, etc. etc. FOX and the writers should get the blame of why this movie wasn't as good as it could of been. FOX rushed this movie as always. A continuingly bad habit that they have had with releasing big movies. A bad habit that they picked up back when they were making Alien 3. And the so-so script ritten by the writers of Superman IV and Mighty Joe Young (1998). Yeah I believe the movie could of been better. But I still thought it was entertaining and fun to watch.
Now as for this new movie. I still have no excitement for it. I haven't bother checking out the new trailer. I wasn't (and still ain't) thrilled about the idea of CGI apes. FOX wanted to go that direction with the Burton film at first. Thank goodness Burton refused. I think that's definitely one thing the Burton film will have over the reboot for sure. B/c he went with Rick Baker's make up and had the actors go to ape school. So they actually look like walking talking apes, monkeys, chimps, etc, etc. Not Andy Serkis (oh brother) doing all the ape movement in some motion capture outfit.
Another thing I found funny is that Rick Baker did the make up for POTA2001 film and Serkis is doing movement and acting for the apes in the reboot. Just like Rick Baker was the man in the KK suit in 1976 KK remake. While Serkis did the acting and the movements in motion capture for the 2005 Peter Jackson remake. I 've heard people say they preferred the 1976 remake over the 2005 remake. I wonder if that's any sign for this reboot.
Anyways nobody asked for another POTA movie. Plus it's a rushed production once again. So I'll wait for dvd. If I decide it's worth watching. But so far not impressed yet.
