It just so happened that he was stationed in Italy. I got to be with him and also get to visit family more often than if I were elsewhere. I'd go anywhere to be with the man I love.

Honestly? Do both of you a favor and break it off with her before you go. She's not as serious about the relationship as you are, from my perspective, otherwise she'd be willing to go to the ends of the Earth with you. Committed couples stay together no matter what, in my experience.
