It's funny when you look back at the things that we said, like we knew it all. We thought this film would kill anything in its path, we damned him for his words and cursed him for saying what he did, Liefield just boldly said...NOPE!

Reading this entire thread helps explain why so many Superman fans are currently in a state of denial about the quality of this movie. Fans need to quit fooling themselves and admit that SR is a mediocre movie at best. Searching for crazy answers as to why it stumbled is silly. The only reason it's struggling is because it's not very good and it borders on being a dull rehash of a movie. Liefield called it correctly.

I really have nothing against this guy, but frankly, I do think SR will beat X3's numbers easily...

I would even go as far as to say that SR "might" even make $200 in 7 days... because technically, it has a 7-day opening weekend going for it when it opens on Wednesday all through the 4th of July. But if not, I'm pretty sure it will hit $200 in less than 17 days

seriously i still laugh at when people say POTC2 will be such a huge hit... HELLO!?! this is the first movie all over again kinda like superman but instead of 20+ years its 3 years old... seriously does Hollywood think were all ******ed....

At the end of 2nd weekend it will make $205m, what is enough to beat POTC2and make $320-340m.

No need to worry! Superman Returns will be hyped by the audiences who have seen it.The positive feedback that X3 lacked. I'll be a masterpiece. As for Liefeld, he is entitled to an opinion, but a he is sadly lacking in his reasoning. Thank God he is not supervising SR! When SR is a collossal blockbuster, He'll say he knew it would be good all along! Nah, I say ignore 'em, and prepare to be amazed by SR!

Ya know, in a sense ol Rob knew what he was talking about.

Rob Liefield is a terrible artist who made a fortune off drawings that 13 year olds thought was "bad ass"....lots of hitting and posing and grunting. They bought all his stuff and made him a millionare. Then, his fans grew up, realized his art was awful, and moved on. It's kind of like the Teen Pop phenomenon...they sold MILLIONS....and then their fans grew up quickly and forgot about them. But their recod sales were record breaking. But who talks about them now? They are just punch lines.

If the Rob Liefield approved ADD- Teenager driven Superman would have been made, then yes...it would have made a lot more, at least as much as X3. But it would leave such a bad taste in people's mouths that no one would wanna touch Superman again for ages. Maybe Warners did the wrong thing in terms of immediate returns, but the right thing for Superman's reputation as a long standing Icon.

Liefield is a nauseating artist but he has a point, as most people working for the comic industry - they have a real passion for the material and really understand things like no hollywood producers or hollywood hired director who's only interested in a 30 year old film and didn't even read the comics prior to the film. Just like in X-Men when Singer only watched a few episodes of the X-Men cartoon instead of reading the actual comics. When you have comic industry people commenting on a comic book movie, it usually involves their experience, history of probably being huge comic nerds to being with, and true and proper passion to the source material knowing what has suceeded and failed before.
