there could be fallout between tony and peter which tony will force peter to sign the accord that required peter to reveal his identity to the public which he doesn't want and ended with a brawl between Spider-man and Ironman
I don't want Spider-Man and Iron Man to fight. Peter and Tony can verbally fight, but them coming to blows would be cliche and just rehashing Civil War.
On another note, I've recently seen a bunch of May/Tony shippers popping up recently, it seems to be a pairing that's really picking up steam (I've even seen a couple of fanfictions pop up based on their interactions in Civil War). Just wondering, if it grows in popularity, what do you guys think are the chances that Marvel will go down that road in Homecoming and beyond?
Don't think they'll go that route. Part of peter and mays story is their financial troubles. Her dating a billionaire would change it quite a bit.
They're already going to have to address that issue with Tony mentoring Peter anyway.
I could definitely see Marvel toying with the idea when they realize how much people liked it - I would say they had a more legitimate chemistry in one scene than Steve and Sharon were supposed to have through the multiple times they were together on screen.
They better come up with a damn good reason.
I don't know if they'll have May and Tony flat-out date (although I could be made to be OK with it if it's done well). But I do expect more flirting/banter between them at the very least.
I mean RDJ and Marisa have proven to have really good chemistry over multiple films together after all.
I don't buy that argument. Spider-Man has proven to work just fine 80%. accurate to the source 14 years ago in 2002. And Tony dating Aunt May isn't interesting, it's annoying & contrived. Just because Marisa and RDJ did movies together in the past doesn't mean they should hook up here. And if he becomes "Uncle Tony", it will be loathed by comic Spidey fans (like myself) no matter how hard they try to make it interesting. Many will feel like Stark is replacing or undermining Uncle Ben (arguable the most important figure in the mythos), plus ot ruins Peter and May's relationship dynamic of them being the only ones left/together in the family after the initial passing of Richard, Mary and Ben. Also brings up the question of why Tony doesn't help Peter & May out considering their financial situation but he can't because it's a defining aspect of Spider-Man story in general that he's a poor kid from Queens. Even the crappy USM cartoon touched upon this, speaking of which takes so many liberities with the source material that it's just laughable. I hope what ever inspiration they take from that show is minimal.Well as a big comic fan myself, I recognize that film is a different medium. And what works in one doesn't automatically work in the other. And given that the MCU is set up differently already, certain changes WILL happen, it's inevitable. And honestly, I'm fine with that as long as said changes are well-done and interesting in their own right. If I want it to be 100% like the comics (which would be kind of predictably boring imo), I'll just read the comics.
I mean as much as I don't like the USM cartoon overall, it sold me on "younger and more active" Aunt May and her dating/having flirty banter with Agent Coulson at least. So they could maybe do the same with Tony here.
Trust me, once "Uncle Tony" happens, they won't be.It's kinda surprising to see not just casuals, but quite a number of comic heads who seem to be on board with this. Most I know don't like such changes to the mythos

A big part of peters endearment for me was ballancing work, university and being a superhero. Dealing with the death of his uncle and the hardship both emotionally and financially that it put on both him and aunt may. You change that with billionaire uncle tony and you lose part of his everyman appeal.
Not to mention how it makes pepper and tony look.
I doubt either sony or marvel will want it as they don't have control.
Such a negative thread, I never thought people would be so against the idea of RDJ in a Spider-Man movie. Never, it's kinda sad lol.
-Peter's "everyman" status has always been iffy to me because, he really isn't.
People like to moan.Yeah me neither. For me personally I couldn't be happier. RDJ and Tom were brilliant together in Civil War, and in any case people who complain about wanting Spider-Man to stand on his own forget that in the comics he's the king of team-ups
