Robin Hood

English actors dont suck. Im looking forward to this movie but i still think that Crowe would make a better Sheriff or Gisborne. The person who was born to play Robin Hood is Sean Bean....

I could see that.

Yeah, I think Ridley screwed up by not just keeping Crowe as the Sheriff.

I also think the title of the film should have remained NOTTINGHAM!

Oh well, lets hope for the best in the weird journey to the development of this film...

i think 'Robin Hood' currently isn't the official name. It could change at any time.

They should go back to Nottingham, unless most of the movie takes place outside of that area. I love that as a title though.

Haha.

Nottinghill

Starring:

Hugh Grant - Robin Hood

Julia Roberts - Maid Marian

Rhys Ifans - The Sheriff of Nottinghill

Ha!! Can you imagine Hugh Grant as Robin Hood? That's the most disgusting/hilarious thing I've heard this morning, and I work at the post office. Corporate office, but still. Heh.

Yeah, it would be horrible but I'd love to see it. That would be such bad miscasting that people would go see it just for a laugh.

"Unlike some other Robin Hoods, I speak with an English accent. Unfortunately, I somehow manage to suck more than Costner."

Yes but it would still be the wrong English accent...

There's just too many Robin Hood movies called Robin Hood. I thik Nottingham would be great.

Yeah, I agree. Also, calling it Nottingham, or maybe Sherwood (though I don't like that as much) would give the film a more epic feel to it. With such a large cast, the movie will hopefully give all of the characters their respective moments to shine.

One of the problems I have with past Robin Hood films is that, while Robin gets plenty of screentime, the other characters tend to get the shaft. And for those who have read the stories, you know that his men are all interesting characters that could be more interesting onscreen if given more to do. Of course, this would make for a long movie... so perhaps the story of Robin and his Merry Men should be split into several films.

I think the name changed because the GA won't know what the hell Nottingham means. They'e see Robin Hood but be confused by the title and wonder what Nottingham is.

I would of preferred it to be Nottingham, even using the name againf or the title will seem tiring.

I dunno... whenever I hear the name Nottingham, I instantly think of Robin Hood. Hell, I worked in Nottingham, MD, for two years and it still didn't change.

But everyone associates the word Nottingham with Robin Hood or at least the Sheriff don't they? All it would take is some marketing showing Robin to make it clear to people what the movie is about.

yeah, you have to give the general public SOME credit. They're ignorant but they can't be that uneducated.

When people think of Robin Hood they think of a man in green tights who robs from the rich and gives to the poor. That's it. They don't know what Nottingham is.

But yeah marketing would do the trick.

I dont' know. I hope that they would know but then again, there's people in the States who can't even locate their own country on a globe.

Nottingham stole Robin Hood from Yorkshire!!.......

If this movie is mainly about social and political events in Nottingham, NOTTINGHAM makes sense. If it's actually about Robin Hood, though I'd rather it be called ROBIN HOOD.

Exactly!

The marketing would need to make sure that in the trailers and TV spots, the name Robin Hood is mentioned from the Sheriff, Little John, the people or from whomever to drive home the point that it is a Robin Hood film and that would be it.
