Yeah, I remember seeing that post now.

But was he that young in the comics? I thought he was like 12 or something.

Nope. That is one of the things that makes the connection to Bruce so special...same age or similar as when Bruce experiences that trauma.

Bruce likes them really young. :down

I wish more people would read that quote, and stop misquoting him. I see it all the time, on both sides. From Spider-Freddies "Dud Nolin sed he mite put Robin in da squela!!!" to all the Robin-haters "Nolan said he absolutley hates Robin and is the worst character and refused to use him!".

As you can see, Nolan acknowledges the fact that Robin is part of Batman's later history, and that with these movies dealing with his early years, Robin doesn't belong for a few films down the line. The reason he said he wont be using Robin isn't because he doesn't like him, but because he doesn't expect to be making Batman films for the next decade. The guy's gonna get tired of it and want to move on, it's to be expected.

I blame Frank Miller and Jim Lee for ruining Robin. It's not the first time Frankie boy's done that. People only bought this new Jim Lee/Frank Miller comic for the classic Jim Lee half naked big boobies girls. I did. I'll admit it. But then again..I'm a guy.

Are you serious? That is 100% ridiculous.

They are not responsible for ruining the character Robin....their series just started...we have not even seen anything from Robin...and even if we did Jim Lee's art has nothing to do with it....

I for one do not think Robin is a "ruined" character or a bad one. And for all those Robin haters it is not like Frank Miller and Jim Lee's new All Star Batman and Robin series could make them think it ruined the character anyway because they think the character himself is crap.

I cannot believe you actually made that reply in this forum...I'm sorry I try very hard not to be mean but that is the dumbest thing I have heard in a while here.

I agree. Not even I would have said something along those lines... even drunk...

oh robin rules by the way. long live batman's little partner...

All Star Robin is a way better character than Robin usually has been portrayed as.

I must admit that I don't hate Robin.

I think it's a lame character, yes, it was made because the censorship found Batman too dark and violent, so, in order to sell more comics and not to suffer further censorships, the editors demanded a teenage sidekick and that Batman shouldn't kill his enemies like he did in the beginning. Some changes were for good, I like Batman not being a cold hearted killer.
But I don't like Robin.

This doesn't make me a Robin hater, I don't hate Robin or any fictional character, that would be just ridiculous, if you ask me.

I don't want to be based in hate in any situation, for me this is the basis of nazi.

That's why I love the Denny O'Neil/Neal Adams' Batman: he was calm and self-controlled, he was the world greatest detective! Being calm and self-controlled, Robin wasn't needed at all "to keep Batman grounded on reality".

And I even agree that Robin could be made in a good way, if done right, and that the character evolved from years of development. And if the franchise continues after this trilogy, he may eventually show up, sooner or later, anyway.
Maybe he deserves his own franchise, and I would certainly watch such movie!

It's only a matter of personal preference.

I just prefer Batman as a lone wolf, a solitary and self-controlled dark knight, with some help from Gordon, Alfred, Dent (before Two-Face), Oracle.
I wouldn't care if Robin doesn't appear until several movies, he takes away this from Batman: his loneliness.

Tired of Burt Ward?
Hee hee. I made this last year. But I STILL say NO Robin.

Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice.

That'd be bliss seeing an older laurence fisburne batman training a neo robin... matrix style.... oh nolan, make it happen....

It'd definitely echo the ducard/bruce training scenes.

Which is exactly why Batman should stay solitary for at least 3 films before Robin is introduced.

Could use some work (like make it less like Batman's suit and more of the red and green) but that is the best Robin manip I have seen on these forums. Good job.

What actor is that

I agree with the "best robin manip" part

Athough i do agree with what you're saying i feel that if we bring Robin in might show some character development for Batman. You know having him show Robin with little respect and being emotionally distant from Robin. Plus, they could have Batman and Robin arguing most of the the time because a lot of the time Batman is leaving Robin out of the loop and going out on his own.

Listen up! There needs to be a Robin thread. There needs to be ONE Robin thread. All other Robin threads (at least in recent memory) have been badly designed and best described as cancerous. Answer the poll. Hate on Robin here. Defend Robin here. New posters LOOK HERE BEFORE YOU POST ABOUT ROBIN (dammit).

Mods (if you really exist) please merge all other Robin threads here.

Fellow posters, just ignore other Robin threads that pop up or tell the mods to merge them here.... unless they somehow raise a legitimate question that is not covered by the vastness of Robin-ness that is this thread.

Good job, Ronny. I doubt it'll work though. There could be a Robin thread at the very top and these noobs would still create a new one. But anyways, to answer the question.

I'm on the fence between "the very end of BB3" and "BB4 or later". I guess it depends on what cast/crew stay over between the two.

If we get a bunch of recasts and a new director after 3, then they should save Robin until 4. That way 1-3 are a clear trilogy with no loose ends and no Robin for those that hate him.

However, if most of the cast and crew stay over, and 4 is just yet another sequel, then I'd put Robin in at the very end of BB3. Dick Grayson would be introduced around halfway and be a minor character, and it wouldn't be until the very, very end that Batman decided he would train Dick as his partner. Then BB4 would take place a few years later just as Robin is finishing his training.

I voted BB4 or later, but I agree with you. That would work well.

Finally! I was gonna create one of these myself but that would've taken, y'know, effort.

BB4 for me. Why? Basically because I want BB-BB3 to be sort of a solitary, stand-alone trilogy. So, for the people who hate Robin, and even the people who don't, we have one big story, or arc, with a solo Batman we can always watch and enjoy.

Another Robin thread. My dream came true.

I voted the same as in the other 500. A lame character doesn't deserve to wait 3 sequels to get in.
