The thing is, while I recognize that Robin is an important part of the mythos, and he and Bruce have an interesting dynamic, I think Batman is best when he is alone.

See I always have a problem when people use that in defense for Robin not being in the film. The only reason I have a problem is this...look at the Bat-family:

- Nightwing
- Robin
- Batgirl
- Huntress
- Oracle
- Azrael
- Onyx

I hope I didn't miss anyone but at one point that was dubbed "the bat-famly"...and yet...Batman is such a loner?

Not to mention how many times it's been pointed out in the comics themselves. Batman was a loner for only a few issues before Robin came along.

I think Alfred and Jim Gordon also count by the way.

Yea I know...I just figured I would go and say it anyway because too many people try to call Bats a loner so much; they go overboard with it a tad. I know he is but he does have help every now and then.

Well, it's not like he's defined as a loner. Is it how much most of those characters suck no matter if they have been in most issues or some of them or whatever.

Umm miss the point much ?

People are saying that they prefer him when he is alone they are not saying that he is always alone. I prefer Batman when it is just batman or at the most when he has oracle and Nightwing the rest of them bore me to tears except Robin I hate him so much that it goes far beyond boredom.

If theres no Dick Grayson in TDK i think they should at the very least have some sort of Flying Graysons reference with a poster or a mention from Alfred or Bruce.

I definetly do think that in 3 or 4 Robin should be introduced and yes it can be done with out being camp.

He should never appear in another Batman film. Hes never been done right and I doubt any could get him right.

I think if you bring Robin in it should be done almost as a reflection to how Ducard kind of "adopted" Bruce in 'Begins'. As a protouge who seek revenge on his parents death.

This would definately be different that the Schumacher movie vesion where Bruce tried to discourage Dick from being Robin and will reflect the comics version a little more.

Bottom line, Robin is part of Batman Mythos and should be included somehow if done correctly and realisticly.

Unless Nolan has taken to referring to himself in the third person, still not a direct quote, so it's still a case of paraphrasing incorrectly, only it's Movie Blog who's putting words in his mouth.

I treid to locate the direct transcript of the interview, but couldn't seem to find it. However, I do remember reading it way back when, so i'll just go off memory.

If I remember correctly, Nolan said that Robin was still in a crib somewhere, and that he didn't expect to be around when he was finally brought in. Which to me sounds more like he only expects to do a few films, and doen'st think Robin should be introduced that early (which I wholeheartedly agree with). Saying "not on his watch" sounds more like he's adamantly against the idea, and will do whatever he can to stop it from happening as long as he's involved. Of course, it's entirely possible that's how he feels, but it's not what he said. I don't remember him saying "not on my watch" at all.

Of course, find me a direct quote and prove me wrong, then I'll be quiet.

When I say no robin I have a ton of other reasons as well.

He is the campiest persona in the comics right now

every version of that suit is horrible and does not fit with Batman but some how it gets used no matter how campy it looks.

The name Robin is perhaps one of the capiest parts of the comics.

Also I enjoy batman better when he works alone
