The Dark Knight Rises Adapting Robin

i hate that he's called DJ, and how the hell will people connect that to batman?

Where the hell does that even come from, anyways? DJ, what's the J stand for?

On the other hand, it's the CW, which means it's aimed at a crowd immature enough to laugh at the name Dick.

if by interesting you mean more awful than anything ever.

And yet another opportunity for the already damaged perception of Robin to take another blow. This hurts my soul.

yeah, i am pissed about that series...however i think robin could work in a nolan film

Dick or tim, either one is good, no domino mask something more red robin like but not exactly, keep the cape and the R, no yellow but red and black. not a glider cape either, i like the idea of him free running and using a grapple gun.

that's all i got

Let me also go with the flow by saying that the premise of "The Graysons" sounds ridiculous. Gough and Millar left Smallville and it became great again, but now it's time for them to destroy some Batman mythos. Great.

CW is a curse to the DC property. I feel like the only reason why it's being handled over there is because WB is a parent company.

Think of the potential any series could do on a major network like NBC. Ugh. :down

TV is too viewer dependant. That's why you can hardly ever get real awesome out of televison. It's why I'm a movie guy.

As a Robin fan and advocate I think this is a great idea, I wish i thought of it! At first I was all WTF like you guys but if you open up to the possibilities it really begins to seem like a wicked opportunity. This could be such a crazy, bad arse show for little teen opera lovers. Who cares if WE don't like it, I'm not so hot on Smallville but I'm still glad it's giving Superman new life. I really hope this happens. and I think the creator of this thread would agree :D

I can almost guarantee people will love Robin after THE GRAYSONS hits.

The obvious thing to do would be to put Batman in the Graysons, but just as NEWS. News Paper and TV news show the headlines or have a News anchorman be like (The Batman Strikes Again) then its kinda letting the ppl use imagination to make everything more interesting.

it pretty much kills the chances of robin being in a film anytime soon.

i wonder if, should a new team of creators want to do robin, this show would be immediately cancelled. i guess it depends on the popularity of the show......

he certainly won't be in a third i guess

So what, he'll be going around with his family, getting into adventures, solving mysteries, looking into crimes?

It sounds pretty idiotic, of all people to do an origin story for Robin like this. Robin's origin is tightly connected with Batman. And Grayson's origin... well, I don't give a flying f*** about it.

On the other hand, it could be cool to show him as having a completely normal life (aside from being in the circus) But then I don't know why anyone would watch it. Plus, wouldn't he be like 11?

If you think him being 11 is the problem, think of this: say the show works and it gets as far as Smallville. So what, he becomes Robin at 19? Or will they try to treat some seasons as less that a year or something similar?

But either way, him having a normal life means the show should be a drama, or a sitcom (with a very BAD finale). If it's action, it's probably gonna suck.

Can you imagine, the family Grayson going from town to town heading into trouble a la Scooby Doo? God, it sounds so incredibly idiotic. If people start liking Robin after THAT show, then they can have the character. I'll just wait for a proper cinematic version (or a proper TV live-action Batman show), even if I'll be an old man when it happens.

It'll get as far as the Aquaman show, probably.

It'll be lucky. Aquaman was actually something with more potential (even if it was essentially a Smallville rip-off, premise-wise) and produced a more than average pilot.

That's what I thought until I watched the pilot :puke:

People will love what they're told to love, just like many did with SMALLVILLE.

That's the nature of superheroes and comic book characters, though, isn't it? Finding adventure at every turn?

And MERCY REEF was just...awful.

Maybe something like this.

While Batman is in hiding, a new vigilante steps up to take his place named The Boy Wonder. However, when Robin becomes the victim of a new villain named the Riddler, Batman has no choice but to step in and save the boy from his destruction which Batman feels responsible for.

Along the way, we find two-face is alive, Gotham finds this out and wants Batman back.

If Robin happens, it should be because Batman made him happen.

It's hard to understand why they don't just make another live action Batman tv series. The 60s released a movie and then the show came out. Why can't it happen in this day and age but taken seriously (actors changed of course)? I mean finish the movies and introduce Robin for the show. It would probably cost even less than Smallville.

I swear, the WB are run by unimaginative morons.

I'm pretty sure the Batman 66 movie was released after the first series of the TV show.
