RoboCop’ Returns

He had better keep Die Antwoord the **** away from this.

I think he had a falling out with them, otherwise they’re set for the freaky future henchmen of Sharlto’s gang.

Well, one thing we know will be great are the visuals, because no one does CGI robotics better than Blomkamp's crew.

I wish Blomkamp had done this years ago instead of Elysium and Chappie, then we wouldn't have gotten the Robocop remake either. I just hope this actually comes to fruition unlike his Aliens sequel.

Chappie felt like a wannabe Robocop movie. Hell, it even had an ED-209.

Also the gore/violence will be top notch. Expect robocop to explode some heads like that South African dealer in district 9

I'd buy that for a dollar!

Now let's hope they bring back Weller.

For the people who want Weller to come back... do you want him to play Robocop again? I don't see how that could work, but then... the Terminator franchise decided that Robots could age so that Arnold could come back.

Wait, is this the sequel idea they had years ago where Robocop is offline in a warehouse and then gets re-awakened? As I LOVED that idea and never thought it would see the light of day, this could be amazing.

I actually liked the re-boot, but this idea can only be used following on from the original IMO.

I really hope D9 Blomkamp turns up rather than Chappie Blomkamp.

With Blomkamp not writing (there are days when I forgot I watched Chappie) and if they stay true to the core ideas of that script, and he knows how to handle satire (I'm a little skeptical of this where I'm afraid the satire will just come across as more of his sledgehammer messaging), then this could be something. That script sounds nuts in all the best ways. And this movie's violence better not be watered down. If anything, it should be even more violent.

It seems to be the trend now with Terminator, Halloween, and (maybe) Predator.

Thankfully The Predator has references to other movies in the franchise.
Heck from what I understand it even references AvP

Anyway, Robocop is now near the top of my list of movies I'm looking forward to.

Just his voice. The guy in the suit can be anybody.

Yeah... Blomkomp directing Robocop? Just...EW NO!

District 9 sucked, Chappie was Short Circuit without the charm.

Plus, Robocop Returns? Its making me think of Superman Returns. Change the title to just ROBOCOP!

Agreed. They can easily de-age the face while Weller wears pajamas and just the top part of the suit with the rest being cgi

I'd rather watch District 9 than Avatar but that's my opinion. To me District 9 is a contemporary classic of the Sci-fi genre.

There's no need in Weller. What it needs though is a cracking script. With strong social commentary.

Since this is a direct sequel, I hope Robocop will retain his humanity as he did refer to himself as "Murphy." at the end of the first one.

I agree with everything above, but esp. with the bolded part. This could be really good, but hopefully not with an on the nose social commentary. I love the social commentary in the political satire from previous RoboCop offerings.

But we'll see. I'm curious as hell how this will turn out, and hope for the best.

This sounds very Dredd like (which I get because Robocop is literally a rewriting of the original Judge Dredd) and fitting given what we're living in now. Looking forward to it.

Robocop Returns!

A direct sequel to Verhoeven's original classic, written by the original writers/creators, directed by Neill Blomkamp.

This sounds perfect. Too good to be true even.

:awesome:

On a side note, I'm so happy for Neill. I'm still bitter over what went down with Alien 5. I hope he kills this and makes a great film!
Spot on. :o
