Rocky 6

I may leave early from work to watch it tommorow. Too bad films open on Thursdays down here.

Just saw it. Very good movie and reminscent of Rocky I and 2. Bittersweet and eventually triumphant. A litlle slow in places but generally a well-paced film. Well directed by Sly with great Bill Conti music and a good supporting cast. The final fight though good was a bit anti-climactic as the champ in Tarver lacked the pre-requisite menace. A touching, well-wriiten film and a fitting end to the series. Well worth the price of admission.

I enjoyed the last fight it was much more realistic and Rocky looked worse & I felt more scared for him in this than any of the other fights. Dixon/Tarver looked very good.

Can't wait to see this one tonight.

From the reviews, it appears like I will be anything but disappointed.

This was a very emotional experience for me, having seen the first "Rocky" when it premiered 30 years earlier. I remeber reading about that first movie at least six months before it hit the theatres and having just seen Stallone in "Lords Of Flatbush", I knew this guy was going to be a big star and that Rocky would be a big hit. Everyone thought I was crazy. But I had a strong feeling about this one. The final chapter resonates on a pesonal level as it deals with Memory, Loss and The Past, as well as refusing to let go of yourself despite age and the lack of confidence in you from thre world at large. Like I said earlier, the fight was not as dramatic as I expected it to be and the character of Mason Dixon was barely developed. This was about Rocky and reconciling the past with the present. Some terrific dialogue which at times became a liitle too verbose. There's the trademark humor here as well. I really dug the way the film developed and gathered momentum.

I agree that Dixon wasn't developed to the point of "hating" Rocky's opponent, but like you said, this film isn't about him, it's about Rocky finishing what he thinks he has to do.

I think Stallone went for more realism with the fight this time around, not the more un-realistic, dramatic fights like the other films had.

Just saw the film and it was a good send off to the Rocky, some might be dissapointed that the fight isn't as brutal and bloody as previous Rocky fights but in way it's good.

The movie is listed as 102 minutes but I checked my watch and finished 20 minutes earlier, wasn't there a scene where Rocky negotiates to get his boxing license?

It defintley was a good movie i got goosebumps everytime rocky went into one of his rants about how he should box it was awesome i loved it, i will go see it again. But you could tell at the end everyone was like wtf? but it dosent matter i like the ending now and makes sense.

Just saw it! Great film. It was better than 2-5 and parts were better than the first. Overall the first wins of course. Great drama. The fight at the end isn't the meat of the movie at all which makes it that much better. Without spoiling anything all I can say is the ending is exactly what I thought would happen. It makes sense if you think about it. Nuff said.

Does he win the fight ? Does he die in the ring ? Can you put it in spoiler tags please so some wont whine about it & I know Stallone filmed 4 endings so hopefully we see them on the DVD

4 endings! im so buying that dvd i cant wait for that.

Absolutely stunning.

Other than The Return of the King midnight show, this may be the best theatrical experience I've ever had. The crowd was cheering, laughing and chanting throughout, and actually put me right there, making it transcend just being a movie and turning it into an emotionally charged, very, very rare experience.
Few films have ever gotten my tear ducts flowing like this one. This movie has some of the most moving dialogue ever written for the screen, not only does it have nostalgic moments left and right for the hardcore fans, but it has enough heart to move anyone that has one even if they aren't a fan of the series. Stallone's acting was top notch, and once again he showed himself to be a master storyteller that's perfectly capable of making films that have themes them that make them well above and beyond being just pure entertainment.

If you really must know. If you haven't seen it I suggest you don't look here:

1) No he doesn't die.
2) No he doesn't win the fight itself but he wins something else intangible.

I thought he was gonna die for a minute, and I knew going in that he'd lose the fight itself. It only made sense. He didn't have to win to win like the first film.

Were there any flashback scenes with (Mickey) Burgess Meredith in them, or was part 5 his last appearance in the Rocky series? I know Burgess Meredith has passed on, but it would have been great if he had been included in this movie in some fashion like a flashback of an inspirational speech Mickey gave to Rocky to pep him up sort of like that. Maybe if things had went differently & the movie had a different outcome or if Stallone really wanted to he could have included some flashback scenes with Mickey sort of like a little tribute to the character.

I'm also wondering that, i cant believe he's the Penguin lol

There were little flashbacks throughout the movie mostly during the actual fight but im sure he pops up once or twice in one.

This is actually the first Rocky movie I've ever seen and I loved it. :o I had a really enthusiastic crowd at my screening too. People were screaming and cheering like they had put money on the fight, it was crazy.

Saw it a second time last night, and it was even BETTER the second time around.

It's just a great send-off and an emotional film. There's a handful of emotional moments, and I had tears in my eyes for all of them - even though it was the second time seeing the film.

Great job Sly, thanks for returning this character to the big screen and sending him off in such a great way.
