Rocky 6

the movie has heart. i am not surpised that people watch this movie. i bet it has good word of mouth. i told a lot of people to watch this movie. i didnt do this with SR and i am a guy who thinks that now they should only watch movies with heavy action in the theater.

I just convinced my Dad to see this movie.
He'll tell me how it was later on.

I am glad that this movie made it's budget.
I just hope that it makes enough to cut even.

I've now seen the film 3 times, and it gets better everytime I see it. Great work Sly, and the numbers show it. Already made a profit after a long weekend - the film's budget was $24 million............

i just saw rocky balboa and i feel like a huge part of my life is now complete. this ****ing movie had me on the brink of tears the entire time. i grew up with rocky and finally getting to watch stallone bow out the character gracefully is like finally finishing reading a book that ive been reading my whole life. amazing movie and amazing character. good job to sly..i never doubted this movie would be great.

That's great news. Count me in as another who's definately going to go see this baby again. Something I rarely do, but I want to have the pleasure of experiencing watching this film atleast one more time in a theater.

I loved the nitpicks and homages that Rocky Balboa gave to fans who watched the other Rocky movies.

well...according to wikipedia.org, Rocky was supposed to visit Drago in the hospital b/c he was dying of AIDS (due to his use of needles and steroids)

BUT it IS from wikipedia...:o

All I wanted was a glimpse of Drago, I wonder what he's up to in his now.
Well they showed a quick video of his bout with Rocky from Rocky IV in preperation for the Mason Dixon fight, but that was about it. Yeah, it would have been nice to see what became of Ivan and Clubber in Rocky Balboa, but I suppose it wasnt meant to be. I know that Stallone originally was going to make an attempt to include both Mr. T and Dolph into the film, but I guess that fell thru during script rewrites.

Edit:

That ridiculous rumor began on some obscure UK website, and thats it. According to Dolph, Drago was later exiled to the Siberian Gulags after his defeat in ROCKY IV. Which makes sense considering Ivan's rebellion towards the Soviet Union right before the last round ("I fight for me!").

Think I'll go with Dolph on this. As he is certainly more of a credible source.

i am watching rocky 5 again. and it is not such a bad movie. the only problem that i have is that paully is really a bad person. and i know tha trocky is good but he lost rockys money. and they are still good friends. the next problem that i have is that tommy is really dumb. they wrotte him really dumb. because of rocky he was where he was and then at the end he wants to fight rocky? very bad.

other than that it was a good movie.

Yes Tony
I wanted to see him in the movie

He would have but that actor died some time ago.

Same with Father Carmine........

I read on Wikipdia that Mr. T was supposed to return as Clubber as a commentator for the Mason Dixon fight. It got replaced by Mr. T taunting Mason Dixon, instead for some reason.

....but it's Wikipedia, even though most of their info is legit. :o

The only obvious acknowledgement of Rocky V that I caught was Rocky saying "Home team!" to his son, which made me smile. :)

My big gripe with the movie is that, in spite of all its strengths... it's just not well directed.

Most of the first half of the film is shot with a bunch of static handheld shots, so the screen is wobbling around for no reason. I despise the way that "shakycam" is permeating Hollywood because people think it makes you feel "like you're there." It doesn't do that at all, because when I'm looking at something, I don't wobble my eyes uncontrollably. It's just annoying as hell. Plus Stallone frequently uses X-TREME CLOSE-UP! views. And by frequently I mean "every other shot" pretty much. It's so common that I was leaning back in my chair in a vain attempt to back the hell up.

Then, during the fight sequence, the mindless use of Sin City-style spot color and Gatorade "Is it IN you?!"-style blood served no point other than to call attention to the fact that it was possible for him to do it. It doesn't highlight anything relevant to the actual match. At first I thought he might only use it when Rocky was getting slammed really hard, to illustrate how he was losing touch with reality from the power of the blows... unnecessary, but understandable. But of course that's not the case, he ends up using it for the entire montage of rounds 3-9.

So yeah, Stallone's skill as a director has apparently severely deteriorated since the '80s. Luckily it didn't detract too much from the great points of the film. :)
i hope you dont think that he copyed this from sin city.

Thought the film was amazing, Sly should get some nominations. He did a great job with a really tricky movie. It was a very graceful way of ending it and the dialogue was excellent throughout. I especially loved his monologues about dreams/life. Excellent.

I have a difference of opinion though in that I think Rocky should have died, maybe obvious but it pulls all the heart strings except that one. He already had brain damage from the previous movie, a few hits to the head, passes out in the ring after going almost the distance. Wakes up in hospital surrounded by his loved ones only to pass away after some touching exchanges, with thousands coming to his funeral to cheer his name and send him off. And we see his statue reinstated.... gold/silver plated. Would really end it and make me cry like a girl.
