Rolling Stone's Greatest Albums of the Decade

Green Day didn't bring back The Ramones by mixing pop rock with punk...Motley Crue has already done that years before on Too Fast For Love...which is why I was not at all surprised when Green Day eventually ripped the bridge from the Crue song On With The Show on part of their song Jesus Of Suburbia.

as much as i love radiohead, there have been far too many good albums this decade to list half like half of their discography.

Oh how many kanye albums do you have to put on there? while I apreciate their shoutout to Crazy for being the number one song, that entire album and Gnarls Barkleys Follow up is far better than anything kanye put out.

And while i guesse it never recieved a huge amount of hype, i think its a travesty Incubus's A crow left of the Murder isn't on this list.

also no love for modest mouse.

I don't listen to a lot of music, but Good News for People who Love Bad News, Black Holes and Revelations, It's Blitz, and some Ninch Nails album (:o) should have been on there.

I am wondering what bands you guys would offer up as alternatives, or whether you are in fact just a couple of old grandpas and are excercising your right to completely dismiss contemporary music in general.

Well, for starters, HIGHLY CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED "The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me" by Brand New needs to be on there. Easily the best album of 2006.

Nice to see Ryan Adams on the list.

This list is a year early. Still one year left in this decade.

^ can we just ignor the fact that there was no year zero.

I mean do you honestly count 1990 as part of the 80s?

It's one of these lists that seems too obviously compiled by a group of people who don't share the same tastes in music. Way too all over the place.

100 albums, 10 years, 1 list, and the only one of them I've ever fully listened to or even heard of is Coldplay's Viva la Vida.

That means you should listen to a lot more music.

Aah dude, I listen to so much music. My MP3 player is filled to the brim, the music library on my PC is almost 20 GB, and I own stack after stack of CDs. But the stuff on Rolling Stones' list--Wilco, D'Angelo, Sigur Rós, PJ Harvey, Vampire Weekend--what the heck? Never heard of any of them. The ones that I briefly recognized like Jay-Z, Kanye West, Eminem, Lil Wayne, and Justin Timberlake, I have absolutely no interest in listening to.

Thier album A Rush Of Blood To The Head is MILES better than Viva La Vida.
