Apocalypse Rose Byrne is BACK as Moira MacTaggert

no one has probably asked her about it yet, has she got a anything to be interviewed about recently?

EDIT:

found cool concept art from FC, black suit, but it won't post for some reason

I'm happy we'll see a human character on the mutant side. we rarely see those.

Now, McTaggert in FC is she the same McTaggert in X3 ? People like to talk about 2 different McTaggert but Xavier cant have affinities with two woman named Moira McTaggert.

If they're the same:
-Olivia Williams played old McTaggert although actress is young
-Young expert CIA McTaggert agent from prequel trilogy will later become expert in medecine

Hopefully if she gets her memories back at some point, she chews Charles out for not trusting her. Honeslty having him erase her memories at the end of FC was a mistake by the writers imo. And it didn't even make sense.

Of course it made sense. The government were willing to kill her with the mutants because she was considered as collateral damage. Xavier did her a favor for erasing some of her memories, so the government wouldn't force her for information and she would continue to live her normal life.

Nope, it just didn't work for me. We have NO evidence that that's why he did it. Also, she's a CIA agent, she's doesn't have a normal life and she's a big girl who can take care of herself. It was just a misstep in the writing.

What?! It's clear as day in the very same scene why he's doing it. She says she'll never tell them where he or the X-Men are and he simply replies with something like "I know..." than wipes her mind. How is that not clear enough that he did it to make sure he, his school and the X-Men were 100% protected? They didn't need to spell it out any clearer.

Also, she's a CIA agent, she's doesn't have a normal life and she's a big girl who can take care of herself.

She had as normal of a life as a CIA agent is going to have. As long as she was working with the CIA having her remember everything to deal with the X-Men was a liability, particularly to Xavier and his school and to a lesser extent Moira herself.

Quick poll, as it relates to this thread...

Is Proteus a big enough threat to warrant being the main "villain" in a future X-Men movie?

If done right, sure but there are far better villains they haven't used yet that I'd say are worth adapting over him.

^ I tend to agree!

Wonder if he could be controlled by another villain, which would bring with it the threat of Proteus while enabling the saving of the son's hero cliche'.

Are there any major X-Men villains out there that would be able to control Proteus?

Hmm...

Shadow King would be interesting and would likely give us a battle on the Astral Plane while the other X-Men are fighting Proteus. That could work...

Onslaught is another good idea! Personally I'd rather see Magneto create Asteroid M to set up Onslaught for a future movie, but I could see this as a possibility.

What about Cassandra Nova Prime? She is Xavier's secret evil sister.

He trusted her, but he wanted to erase her memories to protect her.

While that was likely part of it, it seemed more like a measure to protect himself, but more importantly, his students. Especially after they just tried to murder them all.

But beyond this discussion about why he erased her memories (obviosuly he was trying to protect both Moira and the secrecy of the mansion/students/etc.) the real question is...

Why bring her back for this movie?

Really, in what way could Moira's character be used that would make sense for such an already bloated character script?

IMO, looking at this logically, there is only one viable reason, and that is...

Proteus!

The next queston is...

Will Proteus be a major character in this movie, or is he being set up for the next?

That's a tough question actually as it could go either way. So this leads to this question...

If Proteus is going to be a main character in this Apocalypse movie, then why?

I think the only viable answer would be to be a Horseman.

In some ways I can see that, especially if they make Proteus the son of Xavier. It brings the legacy theme into the story for Charles. But at the same time, believing that at least one of the Horsemen will be Wolverine or Archangel, it's hard to believe that they would also use a major character (Proteus) as another Horsemen. Kind of seems bloated, IMO.

This makes me come to the logical conclusion that Rose is coming back for a mid or after credit scene where she will drop the bomb on Charles that they have a son, and that son is Proteus!

Proteus being Charles's son would just add to the bloat. It just seems superfluous and illogical.

^ But it is per canon (at least Ultimate).

It would also create this backstory that Moira and Charles developed, at least for one night, into more during First Class.

It also seems like something that would give more drama to the situation and give more resolution and character development to Charles (and Moira).

To me it's all in how they do it. If (and that's a big if) Proteus is in the movie and is in there for more than just a "here's your son who I'm keeping in containment for a future movie" or as an after credit scene (to set up a future movie) then you're right, they can't do it in a bloated way. It would simply have to be "Charles, my son has been taken by Apocalypse and I need your help to save him. Oh, and by the way, he's your son too.". It still adds to the bloat, but a little bit less so.

The bloat problem is what makes me lean towards Rose's roll being nothing more than a mid or post credits scene to set up a future story!

If not, then the only other reasonable option is that Archangel and Wolverine will not be Horsemen and that the main Horseman threat will be Proteus, Charles and Moira's son!

Personally I feel that both of the other options, Wolvie or Archangel as Horseman make so much more sense, which is why I feel this Proteus thing will be mid or post credits!

it would be contrived and its one of them sorta elements people criticise in movies where you have to hear about something that you didn't see happen in a previous films, its taken as a plothole

as i said if moira asked charles for help on her son then that would make more sense then do the whole charles remember that day at the mansion when we sneaked off to fool around... well he is yours, then people will say hey did something happen in FC? i don't remember this?

and even if say they filmed a flashback scene for apocalypse with them looking like they did... it could still seem contrived

Pretty sure if they do go that route they wouldn't show a flashback of Charles and Moira in the bedroom.

It would simply be exposition between the two of:

- That night was special to me

and - I wanted to tell you but I felt so guilty for what I did to you.

Yadda, yadda, yadda...

Personally I wouldn't see it as a plothole. We saw that they had an attraction with each other, and possibly more. Something could have easily happened between the two of them, just like something almost (or did it) happen between Erik and Raven!
