Apocalypse Rose Byrne is BACK as Moira MacTaggert

I too am pleasantly surprised by this news!:yay:

Her story at the end of First Class seemed complete. But hey, i would rather see Moira, Charles and (possibly) Muir Island than the Erik/Raven/Hank love triangle they want to delve in.:whatever:

Interesting that she gets to work with Bryan Singer after all these years. She was once up for a role in Superman Returns (most likely Lois Lane) but was "devastated" when she lost out.
A lot of fans theorize about Banshee and Emma not being dead. I would love to see them back, but I doubt it's gonna happen.

And even if it does, I guess they'll keep it as a secret to explain why they're not dead in the movies. Otherwise, an announcement would ruin that.

We never see their autopsy photos in the movie or on the dvd (which has extra ones). So maybe, just maybe....
Oh my lord. I literally just squealed reading this headline.:funny:

Edit: She'd tie in nicely with X-Factor (got the name right this time ;D), being an investigator for the CIA and all.

Byrne says that she signed a three-picture deal (FC included). So the X-Factor thing could happen i guess.

I didn't much care for her in FC, but I'm curious about what role she'll play and how she will be of help to Professor X this time. Will she still be working in the CIA? Will she have become a geneticist at some point in the past 20 years?

Hoping for the latter.

This is good news, I really like Rose Byrne and she was good in FC. I kind of wish that Moira was Scottish (these films have a habit of Americanizing their foreign X-Men), but she was still good. Honestly Charles wiping her memory at the end of FC never sat right to me. I thought that that was a mistake on the writer's part and kind of pointless. It'll be interesting to see if/how they deal with it in this movie.

Rose Byrne is australian. I don't remember is she plays an american accent in the movies.

She can probably pull off a Scottish accent with ease as well (her mother's roots are from Scotland). Oh well. I still imagine her as Scottish-American in light of her surname being MacTaggert.

I woke up this morning still beyond excited for this.

It seems like they always go for a very homogenous accent with a few minor exceptions. Even Rogue lost her southern drawl after the first X-Men movie.

And Halle Berry lost, whatever accent she was trying to do in X1, when we got to X2. It's not a huge deal and I DO really like Byrne's performance. It's more of a fanboy thing. The X-Men are such a diverse lot of characters and I'd like to see the movies show/explore that more going forward.

Yes, one of the things that I love most about X-Men is the diversity in it. The only character so far to show us a little bit of diversity was Nightcrawler, who was only in X2.

Let's not forget french Bishop. ;)

Vaughn gave an interview during the FC promo tour saying it was important to him that Moira be American. No idea why.

This is great and all, but kinda confirms that the 3 will have smaller roles.

This is really great news to hear! I have a feeling we will be seeing Muir Island Research Center.

THIS. Yeah, part of the reason I loved X Men growing up was because of the diversity; Storm from Kenya, Colossus from Russia, Sunfire from Japan, ect. I really hate how the movies have just Americanized all these characters (Banshee and Moira in particular, that was annoying). Hell, Halle tried her best to put on a Kenyan accent in the first one at least, and then Singer just got rid of that by the second movie. Let's hope Shipp pulls something off, even if it is slight.

If she's back because of Muir Island or some kind of mutant haven idea, great. There really wasn't much to her character in FIRST CLASS, and I found her fairly forgettable. Obviously it'd be nice to see Banshee come back in some capacity, even if they have to recast. Seems unlikely, though.

Perhaps we'll get lucky, and she's been living in Scotland for the last 20 years and has picked up an accent.

I love Rose Byrne!
How can anyone not?
