Loving the social media reaction so far, makes it feel like this is going to be a hit. I'm hoping for a 90% or higher on RT to drive this film.

This is going to be a special movie for me personally. I was one of the extremely few kids in my circles who loved Shazam was growing up (actually had to convince my friends that he was a real comic book character at one point). This character and series was one of the biggest influences in my life next to Superman and Spider-Man. I hope they do this justice.

Yeah, the character more than deserves it, imo. He's my favorite DC character by far, and the concept is brilliant.

Trailers must have been incredibly misleading then. *Shrug*

Sadly this doesn't do much to convince me to see it in theaters. Just haven't been able to muster up any interest.

I thought we weren't supposed to believe early reactions or critics before the movie comes out?

I think I've only mentioned it once on these forums that I'm not interested in Shazam? I don't know why I'm tagged in that? It's not like I'm beating the anti-Shazam drum. It's good people are enjoying it, I hope you guys do too, but it's not appealing to me. Hell, I still haven't seen Venom, Aquaman or Captain Marvel(probably go to that this week)

I'm not getting Mendelson's point about Endgame's trailer being released purely to blunt Shazam's good word of mouth. I mean, folks have been reporting their thoughts on the film for almost a week, right? Not like DC/WB decided to only allow folks to start talking about Shazam today unless I'm missing something.

I mean, folks have been reporting their thoughts on the film for almost a week, right? Not like DC/WB decided to only allow folks to start talking about Shazam today unless I'm missing something.

I think it's the other way around they aren't releasing it to take eyes off Shazam they are releasing it to get people more excited for CBM's they WANT Shazam to be a huge hit if it's great, it's good for EVERYONE that's what warring fanboys don't understand.

Just like Captain Marvel wrecking shop @ the box office is great for Shazam! IMO the more people are entertained and have a great time the more they come out to CBM's.

I think Shazam is going to do much better than projections currently show.

I have seen both. I even saw them a few days apart so it is easy to make a comparison. Shazam is on a whole different level. Captain Marvel had a few “exhale through your nose sensible chuckle” moments. Shazam is laugh out loud funny. I haven’t had this much fun with a CBM in a while. Not only that but this movie tugs at the heartstrings. You could end heart disease across the nation with how much heart this movie has.
