Rotten Tomatoes/Early reviews and social media impressions

Not to bash or start a fight, but I found Blanchette's Hela more interesting and more exciting than the JL trailers I've seen thus far. She doesn't need any special effects; she steals every scene she's in and you can tell that Blanchette has a great time making this movie.

Plus, she’s Cate Blanchett and can act circles around just about everyone else. The trailers alone make her look more interesting than most of the MCU villains to date.

I also think that Blanchett's role is being kept very close to the chest by Marvel. I think they now what they've got and my theory is that they have chosen to adviser people not to talk too much about her just in case some big spoiler slips because there's stuff we still don't know about her, her relation to Asgard, Odin... and that could have a massive impact in the movie and even MCU.

I think Marvel will wait until all of this excitement dies down a bit with everything that will come out regarding Star Wars... And then they will open the floodgates and the spotlight will be firmly pointed at her performance in TR. Like they did with the set visit reports, first everything else regarding the movie and then a week or so later drop the Hela stuff, the epic footage, the interviews...

Everything we have seen so far from Cate Blanchett as Hela has just been epic so my theory may have some weight considering not much has been said about her just something great stuff here and there.

I think the problem with most MCU villains is that they often lack a good backstory and/or a good personality. We know next to nothing about Ledger's Joker, but he has incredible screen presence and was performed flawlessly. On the other hand, the same could be said about GOTG's Ronan the Accuser, but he had incredibly thin personality and very one-dimensional, even though he was played by Lee Pace who's a good actor. I don't know about the backstory yet, but I think Blanchette has already stolen every scene in the trailers and I can only imagine how much better she will actually be in the movie.

One thing I don't understand is how the f**k is anyone managed to out-do Blanchette in the movie. Nope, the early tweets are most likely underselling her big time. She is an absolute joy in all the clips and trailers I have seen so far and she is also by far the best thing about the movie to me. Somehow she just keeps getting better with each passing footage. She is gonna own the movie. I think reviewers are holding back with regards to info on Hela.

Man you love her! She looks so great.

But this comment..well..how the f**k is Martin Truex Jr out performing Kyle Busch, Jimmie Johnson, Kevin Harvick, etc? The people around him and the crew chief are giving him really good race cars this year and he is out performing other drivers who have more talent.

Kate Blanchette is Jimmie Johnson/Kyle Busch
Anyone who "out performs her" is Martin Truex Jr.
Taika is the crew chief
And the production crew is Truex's race team.

And I think that answers your question.

Plus, it's a Thor film. The fact that people are thinking Thor was great is HUGE. He has never gotten that respect and he should have the best performance

All I know is, this movie needs to come out asap with the episode 8 trailer coming out today, it is the bigger franchise. When Star Wars season roles around, my MCU hype dies down. As much as I love Marvel, Star Wars takes the cake when it comes to character driven fantasy epics. Blah see, I'm already going off the rails haha.

I was hoping people would mention Surtur

That Collider video about Thor Ragnarok first impressions made me so happy. So much joy they had talking about the movie, they genuinely loved it and had an awesome fun time in the theatre. A lot of great quotes to take out of that clip regarding how they felt and the impact the movie had on them.

Aaaaaand that just brought back all of my excitement full swing. They sounded really excited and enthusiastic to talk about it and this is NOTHING like the reaction to Gotg Vol.2. If anything, this is more like the first Guardians.

There's another screening tonight. So i guess we could get some more incoming reactions later on.

What got me was them saying it's a Taika movie through and through akin to any of his previous works. The fact that his style and voice shines through the entire movie puts all my doubts to rest. I adore Shadows and Wilderpeople and this looks like more of it so, hell yes!

Yeah, why did nobody mention him?
Gosh, I'm panicking! :csad:
Just kidding, but maybe we should prepare for a silent henchman Surtur...
Oh well, everything else sounds great. :yay:

He's voiced by Clancy Brown and probably has his own motive.

He won't be a henchman. If he IS a henchman of Hela, I may get up and walk out lol. A guy who destroyed a galaxy creating a sword..henchman haha

Surtur is not gonna be a "silent henchman". He is one of the biggest threats in the movie if not the biggest in terms of pure destruction and he is going to be voiced by Clancy Brown.

I am very happy with all the positive reviews. It sounds like it is going to be a enjoyable movie to watch. Also, a couple of things to consider.

For people who are saying the words "Fun and Enjoyable", suggest that there is no story, I don't get it. One thing has absolutely nothing to do with the other. This is not to suggest it has a great story, but these things are not mutually exclusive of one another. As for stakes. Same thing. A movie can be fun, funny and enjoyable while still having moments of stakes. It is just a matter of putting the right emphasis on things at the right moment. Guardians of the Galaxy 2 was pretty funny through out and it still managed to have high stakes during the scene with Yondu sacrificing himself. This is not to suggest the movie will not be better then Guardian's of the Galaxy 2, but it is just meant to show they can bring about multiple emotions within one movie.

Also, for people that are surprised at Hela not getting a lot of mention in the reactions, and Valkyrie stealing her limelight. This may just be because in the trailers they really played up Hela, and people went in knowing she was going to be awesome. So, there was no surprise in that her performance was awesome as they already expected it to be. Where as with Valkyrie, sure they had some cool little clips of her in the trailers, but she was not played up nearly as much, and same with the Grand Master, so when they shined it really caught the attention of the public as being noteworthy. This is almost like my other comment. Valkyrie and the Grandmaster being awesome does not mean that Hela was not.

Anyways, just my thoughts on the matter.

Forgot about Clancy Brown, right...
Feeling already a bit better...
Maybe film Surtur is not really memorable like he's in the Simonson's comics.

I also hope some version of Gjallerbru made it in the movie.

Yeah, I can't see Surtur being a henchman, but I can see Hela releasing him as a last ditch effort to be victorious against the Revengers. Lol

So they say if we want to see Thor kick ass, we will get it.

Also, I want Jeff Goldblum saying "Must go faster"

I was going to mention that. Hell yes! I can't wait for Thor to go Beast Mode on those fools. :woot:

I wonder what Anna klassen's tweet referred to when she said "(Also, some very other good cameos which I wouldn’t dare spoil)." Curiosity peaked!

I wonder what the surprise that made the audience lose it is? Something that was never marketed or anything. I'm thinking Thanos.

Something unexpected, and makes the crowd go nuts doesn't go hand in hand with a funny scene

Yeah this too swung me back Thor looks a pretty different character but considering I love all Taikas films I don't see how I can't be excited for this after that video

The reactions are great. There's just nothing more that's needed right now than for the frigging film to arrive.

And of course someone complained even before watching the movie. Classy answer btw.
I haven’t liked a marvel film since Raimi Spider-Man 2. And I’ve seen them all

Reilly the 13th - So here’s the thing, this is unlike any Marvel movie I’ve seen. It’s Thor on acid. But avoid as you see fit.

I admittidly am not a fan of his new characterization. Tbh I think it's stupid, but I'm glad he gets to have fun playing the character and delivers a fun performance, so I can overlook that aspect.

Truthfully, Thor 1 is still my favorite representation of the character to date and I like his personality in that atleast 10x more than what I've seen from these trailers. It wont knock my enjoyment of the movie though. Blah blah, Hemsworth could cut loose, blah blah Taika.. Thor 1 was the closest representation to Thor's comic personality, Ultron was close too.

Idc, Thor's comic book personality is why I became such a fan of Thor in the first place, so I won't wavor on that.

The kirby-ness of this film may even fit right in with what they are doing.

There WAS some silliness to Simmonson's Thor run in the 80s, but Thor's personality was still there.
