I completely agree.
I find him to be the film equivalent to Joe Quesada for Marvel.
Indeed, it's now the unflattering summary that reflects it's rating.Looks like they changed the consensus summary...
While the cast is outstanding and the special effects are top-notch, the latest installment of the Spidey saga suffers from an unfocused narrative and an overabundance of characters.
Took me a second to work out what that stands for![]()

IDGAF what the critics say, if I see this movie tonight and love it I'm coming back here and raving about it. The caps lock button will be abused...
It kind of sounds like you might like it just to spite the consensus. If you want to love this movie, sight unseen, go for it. I'm seeing it tonight, despite the alarming reviews because I like Spider-man. But whether I like it or not, I don't think that will make the critics right or wrong. It's just my opinion whether it fits or not. Same with yours.
At this point all Sony can hope for is that this film gets the Michael Bay treatment since all of those Transformer films are south of 60% (one at 20%) yet still rakes in a boat load of cash in spite of it.
Of course the issue with that is that people may reserve a higher standard for comic book movies like Spider-man given how the bar has been constantly raised.
It's a damn shame that alot of people won't be seeing a great Spider-man movie and watch an awful bootleg copy instead because of the rottentomatoes score (56), which is unfair imo. Specially with movies like Thor: TWD, that imo, is one of the most unsatisfying cbms i've ever seen, but it still gets an 76% on RT. Those 'critics' must have been expecting an Oscar-****ty movie, which it's not. But it's not trying to be either. It's just a fun, exciting movie with great acting, good action and has some really good emotinal moments, which I think, it's what sets this movie apart from other blockbuster movies.
People should check it out and make an opinion of their own.

I need to go back and watch this, apparently. Which one was it?
Also is it available on streaming? I'm always up for way more cartoon Spidey (same with Bats, JL, and X-Men!)
