The Raimi debate has been done to death but Garfield's Spidey is the definative Spider-Man for me.

To me, Spider-man 2 is a damn near perfect superhero film. Yes, Tobey wasn't quite Peter Parker personified but on a whole I feel like that film fully embodied everything about Spider-man.

Taunting the people who like this new franchise (I'm not one of those people) with big "miss me yet?" banners is childish and uncalled for.

I think both sides need to get over the fact that Raimi ain't in charge of the Spidey franchise anymore.

I agree about spider man 2 it is still one of the best CBM ever and is just about perfect.

I hope we can at least get back to 60 but I don't think that is going to happen now.

Gotta point...

It's been 10 years and Sony still hasn't topped that train scene yet.

all the raimi talk here made me rewatched spider-man 1 and 2. tobey was an okay peter, he got the awkward but lovable guy but not so good spider-man, some one liners didn't came out good from tobey. but the movies general were better imo and they deserve their RT ratings. Watching them made me realize that how much I loved the harry/norman relationship. I know tasm2 couldn't have done that because it would be also a copy of raimi's movies

okay now it's spider-man 3 time.

Personally i was always willing to sacrifice the wise cracking if it meant just having great storytelling. Spider-Man 2 still has some of the best storytelling in the genre. But, i do love Garfield's Spider-Man and his personality.

Exactly. It just comes off petty. The only one who even "deserved" any taunting was Avenging Spidey, and he is gone.

Except for the wisecracking spider-man, how could it not have that

Much of raimi's influence for his series came from the pre-wisecracking spider-man, which was how the character was originally created.

i always liked spider-man for his wisecracks, its what seperates him from other super heroes

no stay away from this franchise, you are better suited for superman and even then its probably best you ain't attached to that either.. you know just stick to horror, army of darkness 2

How about a Darkman reboot?

I hope we can at least get back to 60 with an 6 average but probly not going to happen

I'm the exact opposite. Character is the main thing that counts for me. I need both storytelling and character for a great film, but I see it this way: A great story with better characterization will always have more potential than a great story with not-so-great characterization.

A great film doesn't change the way you set up your characters in your particular universe. You would have to retcon that and accommodate the characters to be more like their comic book counterparts. Whereas if you make a mediocre film that gets all the characters right, there still is the chance of getting both right the next time in your next film. Which, unfortunately, it seems like this film didn't do (based on the reviews, but I'll judge that for myself).

Say what?! When was Spider-Man not a wisecracker???

That's the most inaccurate thing I ever heard regarding Spider-Man (no offense).

yeah spider man was alrease a wiscaker that was about the only thing missing form spider man 1-3 other then that they where really good and spider man 2 was great.

It's doing that increase a little then decrease more thing again. I expect under 56% soon.
I honestly don't think so. It will fluctuate in the mid-50s at this point. I can't go that much lower. It just can't.

Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends might be perfect for your little boy to watch, Suzanne. It's cute, silly and kid-friendly. "His Amazing Friends" are Firestar (from FF) and Iceman, long with a puppy named Ms. Lion. The animation is basic, which probably won't bother him too much at his age. I'm not sure it holds up for adults but the little ones might have a ball with it.

Yay!! Okay, good to hear… it actually sounds perfect for him. Me, I like the older cartoons if the characters/stories are fun and stuff.

I actually really loved Spectacular Spider-Man. Heartbroken to hear it had been shelved.

Just pulled out my volume 1 of the Essential line to double check. Spider-Man has been cracking wise since the early days.

It's in the 2 steps backward one step foward mode again.

I'll probably wake up tomorrow to it hovering around 50% at this pace/pattern of activitiy.
