Yeah, it's a mixed response. Nothing more, nothing less. Definitely not a total panning like we've seen with the movies you mentioned.
It's an either or mentality in the kingdom of fanboyania. Either a movie gets great reviews or terrible ones.

I honestly don't think so. It will fluctuate in the mid-50s at this point. I can't go that much lower. It just can't.

If it does, one can only prepare for the war that is to come.:csad:

Damn I still remember when literally all the actors were saying that the script is great. It seems like the script is the biggest problem

Wow I would have never expected reviews to be this bad. I didn't think the first one was that great because it was constricted to having to tell another origin story. So the sequel should have had more freedom. I wonder how much is due to too much input from Avi again. I can't stand that guy.

Avi Arad, Robert Orci, and Alex Kurtzman are the poisons keeping this franchise from being truly healthy.

All about their contract. Gotta promote the film.

Shailene Woodley said it too. It was after she left the franchise, so she was under no obligation to praise the script.

That being said, I generally don't pay attention to actors praising the script pre-release. I've been fooled by that too many times.

It's a business. Nothing wrong with the actors trying to promote a movie, helping people who pay their checks.

Sometimes they come out after a few years and bash the movies they were in and usually it's in bad taste. Kinda like what Hugo Weaving did with the first Cap. That was just a low blow. If you don't like the movie you're in - save it for the dinner table. Just comes off as being ungrateful to people who picked you for a part.

Critics and the GA don't owe anything to film studios so basically they can go to town ;) Which reminds me... Going back to my original review from last week... ;)

How the hell this movie holds a 70%+ rating on RT is beyond me. This really has potential to be a franchise killer, once more people get to actually see it.

If Sony wants TASM2 to be the beginning of their cinematic universe, this could be perceived as starting off on the wrong foot.

So you are saying a third won't be made? Its a bit early for I told you so's I think.

Oh they are going to make a 3rd because the film is still going to make a truck load of Spider-bucks.

Nah just saying, I was right about the RT ratings decline. Spider-man 3 kinda killed the raimi series, we'll see what TASM 2 does. Im betting the studio will at least consider someone else to direct TASM 3.

Also it kinda got me wondering. What if Fox or someone else release a real stinker (like 1/5, Batman&Robin type ****). Would Marvel ever consider pulling their logo from movies not made by Marvel Studios? Cause at some point this might just start hurting their brand. Not necessarily talking about TASM 2 here but still... Someone start a thread, cause I'm just a noob ;)

The answer is NO!... Raimi's spidey 2 was more streamlined. But Amazing-2, despite its flaws is still a better and more complex movie. When just looking at the actors alone, it has already won.

Keep Raimi away, thanks.

Yeap. If bad reviews is all it took to stop a franchise, then we wouldn't be on the 4th Transformers movie.

I've seen the Batman Forever and Batman and Robin comparisons from some but the movie, among critics, still isn't this hated thing. If the movie were it would be in the 30's right now.

I think the 41% Batman Forever has on RT is pretty low. It's a pretty dumb and goofy film, but I think it's the best live action Batman film after BB and TDK. 7/10

The problem with TASM series so far is nothing it's doing is making me forget Raimi's series. It's just nothing new. I mean look at Burton's Batman and Nolan's Batman. 2 completely different worlds, different Batmen, different rogues and all great.

They might be able to fill up a Volkswagen Beetle on the very back-end, but if the numbers keep trending the way they are, they could end up losing money here.
