Looks like TLJ was review bombed in Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic, a practice prevalent in video game reviews, where a bunch of well adjusted people sign up just to give a specific game, in this case a movie, a bad review, so it would create a negative reception of the product and harm sales.

This article is pretty damning and thoroughly extensive.

Par for the course nowadays, really. Just a bunch of Sith lords thinking they're Jedi's.

You've said better what I wanted to say.

Btw, even that butchered disjointed awful dialogue and humor JL was a much more pleasant and enjoyable experience than this.

Is that why it's currently at 637M worldwide? Because of all the people who went for repeat viewings? Because how how much more "enjoyable" it was? :hehe:

Agree to disagree on TLJ, but yes...JL was a hot mess.

Justice League was a like a pizza that had no toppings.

The Last Jedi was a pizza that had some good toppings and some very bad toppings. It ain't a half/half though. All those toppings are mixed together.

Thor Ragnarok was like getting an absolutely delicious pizza, but it came from Dominos.

So how in the hell is JL getting 20% better audience reviews that TLJ. I know some people are not happy with it, but there's a huge disparity between the audience reviews and the box office performance for both of those films.

rt needs to be shut down. it hasn't been credible in years.

I guess I would consider TLJ to be a really good pizza with a lot of toppings I wouldn't normally think to use. Sure I may need to pick out and throw away a green pepper here and there, but overall I really found it hearty, delicious and satisfying.

Some fair points were made here and I have very little doubt that the audience score for TLJ on RT is very misleading, but I really wish they would have left out the "alt-right" angle. The amount of people who didn't like the movie because "blacks, gays and chicks!" Is so infinitessimally small it's not even worth bringing up.

They absolutely were. Just not in the same direction as TLJ.

TLJ has been "gamed" because the audience rating isn't as favorable. Right.

I thought RT verified the audience ratings already. And so what if more people aren't bowled over by the new Star Wars movie?

Rogue One was a better movie. The Last Jedi has Mark Hamill. Choose your poison.

Jigsaw's Audience Score on RT is 92%.

So, Jigsaw is more loved than Star Wars. I feel good now. Loved Jigsaw. :)

I am inclined to think this movie is more popular with the GA than on here, but polls I always find suspect. Now, this place that did this poll, is it an online poll, or did they survey people in theaters? If in theaters, then I find this more reliable.

TLJ is doing fine, but it's not operating at TFA levels.

Why aren't they credible? Are you suggesting they aren't correctly tallying up the reviews, or are you one of those that have misunderstood what RT is?

I don't buy into the idea this was review bombed, it would take tens of thousands of reviews to do that. The uber fans have always been the ones who inflate the RT user scores when the critics give low score, the only reason the user score is getting any traction now is because the situation is flipped. Anyone claiming it's just alt-righters or right wing SJW's is making ridiculous assumptions to explain what is simply an unusual situation. We'll know more by the end of the weekend what the word of mouth for this film actually is, the box office isn't running anywhere near level with TFA at the moment, we don't know if that's down to WOM or simply because TFA was a perfect storm of events. I suspect it's a bit of both. It may very well be a case that the truth of what the consensus is for this films lies somewhere between RT and Cinemascore when it's all said and done.

I mean, we have evidence of Star Wars fans pulling this kind of **** before. They did it to the Aftermath novel, completely reasonable it would've happened to this movie.

I also think it is important to realize some of these movies have opened up so big, that it is nearly impossible to recreate that level of box office.
