Heard it on Howard Stern this week. Brandon hauled in $300,000 for Superman Returns. Much lower than I would have expected, but I'm sure he'll be raking it in for the sequel.

We talked about this, his salaray escalates into the multi-million dollar range by the 3rd movie, if there is one.

might as well have its own thread dude instead of hijacking the BO thread :p

so thats $300k for SR alone? that doesnt include other extra stuff like royalties? is he even entitled to that?

so would he get the same or more on the second film, given the current situation at the BO?

So basically...he could invest that and be set for life. :o

Sh#t, my dad spent more than that on his new house!

^^I have a question about the salary and stuff.

Do the stars get any sort of royalty fees for their face appearing on the toys and all that. I mean, I would think Mark Hamill would be living in style from his face on all the SW stuff, but someone said they just get a flat modeling fee or something like that.

Anyway, does that stuff figure into his over all salary, especially the recurring monies from all the mdse stuff?

Depends on the star and the movie, but I don't know what Routh's situation is, good question though.

Depends on contract negotiations. Sometimes royalty fees are included sometimes they aren't. For instance, the friends cast gets paychecks from all the syndication showings of the show. In contrast, the cast of the sopranos will get nothing from the syndication deal HBO made with A&E. Given that he's an unknown actor his negotiating power is non-existent. I wouldn't be surprised if he only got a salary and no percentage from merchandising, dvd's, etc.

^^Damn! I guess you need a great lawyer because that seems so unfair. It's his face!

didnt they said something about actors signing their likeness over?

so i guess they get jack squat unless specified in the contract. :(

wow... considering everything he has and will go through due to this role, i'm really surprised it wasn't more.

ya I am surprised that is all he got paid. Even though its his first movie, I was expecting something a little closer to a million.

But on royalties, its all about how you go about your contract. Since he isnt that big of a star he doesnt have that much power and the studio probably didnt care to pay him for for his likeness.

^^is there no chance for a renegotiation of the deal...I mean, he gets nothing...ever...except what he initially got? That's cold. I'm not really thinking of Routh, but more Hamill. I hope he's getting some N's because his face is on a lot of books and toys. Along of course with Fisher and Ford (though he has money, so he who cares:))

Well, some people do make that in a year and they didn't star in a Superman movie. However, I guess it all pans out since Routh wasn't really more than stuntman anyway. I think he had a total of five lines or something.

300,00 for a guy whos did his first movie is great. Hes not freaking Tom cruise or anything, hes just Brandon Routh. If theirs a sequel im sure it will rise to atleast 1 million. Thats only if Routh raises his star power inbetween the first one and the sequel. Tobey maguire got 17 million dollars for spider-man 2, but Tobey was already pretty well known before the spider-man flicks anyway. Its different for Routh, who was [and wil be again] a bartender and a newcomer of sorts.

^^I see what you're saying, it's just that the seems low...but I guess that showbiz. That just seems jacked to me :(

I think its because Nicolas Cage robbed them. They had to pay him millions for him to get out of his contract.

More stupidity from WB. 'Helping' him out when he is starving would probably pay dividends later.

I find it very ironic that Routh would make more money for posing nude for Playgirl, than for playin Superman. ;)

And to believe they were going to offer Josh Hartnett $30 million over the course of three films!

After the box office disappointment of SR, Warner Bros. is probably trying to take that little bit away from him, lol. :O
