I will agree that there are moments in the story that are insanely effective, but they are like gold rings in a hog's snout. They're beautiful, but in the wrong place. Solidus reaching out to Washington was flat out beatiful, and then the next shot is Solid Snake and Raiden standing in New York talking about sex.

Snake and Raiden weren't talking about sex. Snake was saying to Raiden that he should get a brand new start on life, one where he is not manipulated by the Patriots or Solidus. One where he can make his own decsions. One where he could live with Rose and his child.

However, Otacon sleeping with his step-mother was a bit...shall I say...odd.

Gotta jump in here...because I do whenever someone trash talks Raiden. He really isn't that bad. Give him a hair cut and a little more experience and he will be a damn good character. MGS2 simply would not have worked from the view of Raiden. For MGS2 to work you have to see the game, and Snake through someone elses eyes. Raiden served the purpose he was meant to serve.

I absolutely loved the idea of seeing Snake through someone else's eyes. That's one of the things I adored about MGS2. The whole "Solid Snake is dead" angle and then watching just how much of a badass Snake really made my appreciation for him go up tenfold. It's not the idea I have a problem with. It's the character of Raiden.

First of all, his looks - when I first saw him in the opening movie, I thought it was just some chick fighting alongside Snake. Is there anything about Raiden that does NOT seem excessively feminine? Slim body in a skin-tight suit, smooth bleached hair, whiny and annoying. Yessir, he's got it all nailed down to a T. It's a good thing that Kojima included the part where the President goes for Raiden's crotch "You're...a man?!" - that pretty much shows that he agrees with me.

His backstory - total suckage. Even though it is later revealed that Solidus trained Raiden when he was a kid who was a lethal S.O.B back then, I can't help but wonder in amazement how the hell does he manage to pull off such a sappy, sorry and gutless figure for almost the entirety of the game. And Rose...ugh.

If only Kojima had a character that was more...appropriate instead of Raiden who seemed just so wrong and out of place.

So basically your entire arguement for him boils down to you can see his chest. He looks boyish in the game, not metrosexual and he only looks feminine in that promotional shot. Compare his in game model and look to that.

And he has a girlfriend, so don't go getting any ideas about him because he has clothes sort of like Alladin (who also has a girlfriend).

The best versions will still be the shaky cams, remember what happened with the first MGS4 trailer? The version on the Konami website was horrible.
