The Dark Knight Rises Rupert Thorne Casting Threads

James Woods wanted to play Riddler after Batman Returns came out.
Really? That's a bizarre choice. I've never heard that one before...

I always imagined the Riddler to be more of a coward and a sort of con man character anyway. James Woods has the kinda face that says "I'm gonna BEAT you UP". Perhaps ten years ago Woods would have been good for Two-Face, I dunno. He seems to play brutal characters really well.

On topic, I'm still saying no to Rupert Thorne. I recently watched the Two-Face two-part episode of TAS again and he bugged me in it. Dunno why, but his character just seemed misplaced in that otherwise brilliant episode.

I'm with Riven (again it seems - gettin to be a habit Riv)
Indeed! Before you know it we'll be getting along! ;)

I think Rupert Thorn is good gangster villain they use him like working with Falcone family.

I'm not saying the producers ever actually offered him the role (since Robin Williams was probably their first choice anyway). At the premiere of Batman Returns, Woods said he wanted to be in the next one as Riddler.

I would like to see thorne, I think James Gandolfini could pull it off, its just an off the wall choice I thought I would suggest.

That idea could work - Gandolfini aged up - nice one!!!!

But isnt the guy sick of playing mobsters?

One actor comes to mind when I think of Rupert Thorne...and that man is Brian Cox!

Brian Cox is a good choice for Thorne.

The Ceb-Man!

Now that I've heard it mentioned, James Woods could have made a totally kick-ass riddler.

If Woods were brought in as a mob boss, I would make it Maroni. I could totally see that. However, it seems unlikely that they are going to use that character.

Paul Sorvino (PAulie from Good Fellas) would be great as Rupert Thorne

Great minds think alike. I've always thought Paul Sorvino would make a great Thorne.

Yeah Lol - Paul Sorvino's got it down pat as a Crime boss caharacter actor

Big Paul with white winged hair would look the part

But I like the Brian Cox choice too

Lol like that a lot - the guy can play creepy and scary in equal measure

Hard to believe then he's the good guy in The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.....

I thought I bring this back I like RT he was good in TAS.

Paul Sorvino!
or maybe, i think, Brian Dennehy (sp?) could do it.

Hey I just thought of someone I think wasn't mentionned before : Jon Voight
